    REMINDER

I know its frustrating that others do not see things the way you do, but I'd like to remind everyone that this is not a battle and you are not soldiers. You are debating an issue on a forum board. Having different opinions should not bleed into threats or accusations of serious -isms. I think you know what those are, but if you need a refresher, here are the rules. On such a hot button issue, please try to think twice before posting and once again, remember that you are talking to people.

Please especially refrain from attacking and generalizing either idols, users or an entire fandom because of your position on this issue. Address the arguments.

  • honestly, i don't see any reason not to support nj

if they manage to get out of the contract through breach of trust, then it only makes it easier for other artists to get out of the contract

but i have no clue what evidence nj have through a legal pov to set a precedent

Their case may difficult to be proven in the court but it is more than common case esp. in corporate world. Your company won't directly fire you, but they will make your working situation not emotionally convenience -- don't acknowledge your achievement, outcast you from project, move you to branch office , not give assignment, etc...it's always very subtle but predictable moves. This way they can make you "resigning" yourself so they don't have to pay anything (I think hybe did this with fromis9). Basically these people will not harm you physically but tire you emotionally.

[theqoo] KIM JOON-DONG, WHO ORCHESTRATED BANG SIHYUK'S IPO FRAUD, DISAPPEARED FROM THE US AFTER POCKETING 100 BILLION WON

    AVvXsEiNnTPkvKWzoX54aF0IRCrKcONyz4kDfOHKLdCLRAEU4tADHrubI4kmtKRs-ZRkMnefrT-SYBKoy7BfcmvH4z2izTnMTmUsqbd-e2uTxoGGJY01goEppsT5zt9wWL9o7RlZKB_PWMJYytiGC6raMKGW7N-LcVDxmxbfp2yGBvIq7ZU1XrU21I4N40UXjs3O

According to an exclusive report by The Korea Economic Daily, Kim Joong-dong, the former Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of HYBE, known to have led and planned the profit distribution through the company’s IPO along with HYBE Chairman Bang Sihyuk, has gone into hiding since June of this year, when the investigation into Chairman Bang began in earnest.

Kim, a US citizen, is said to be residing overseas and has not responded to requests for investigation from the police and financial authorities. As the person who oversaw projects bridging Bang Sihyuk and the capital markets, Kim reportedly earned an enormous profit of around 100 billion won ($70M) and is considered a key figure holding the critical clues to the case.

While four to five other suspects identified as Bang’s accomplices have each been questioned one or two times, Kim Joong-dongm, seen as the most important co-conspirator, left for the United States in June and has not complied with police summons since. That same month marked the beginning of the police’s full-scale investigation into alleged stock manipulation involving Bang Sihyuk and Kim Joong-dong, following raids on HYBE’s offices. Police are reportedly viewing Kim’s disappearance as a possible attempt to destroy evidence and evade investigation.

Kim’s firm, Easton Fund, is estimated to have purchased around 130 billion won ($90M) worth of shares and then, starting from HYBE’s IPO in October 2020, sold off all its holdings on the very first day of trading, earning roughly 600 billion won ($417M) in profit. Of that, about 190 billion won ($130M) allegedly went to Chairman Bang Sihyuk, who had reassured former shareholders and employees that “the company will never go public,” thereby allowing Kim to buy their shares at a bargain. Kim himself is said to have pocketed around 100 billion won.

So what happened to Easton Fund Equity Partners, the firm that reaped astronomical gains? The company shut down the very next year, in 2021, right after HYBE’s IPO. Up until then, Easton Fund had operated only two funds, Funds No. 1 and No. 2, both used solely to buy undervalued shares from HYBE’s former shareholders. It was essentially a fund created exclusively for Bang Sihyuk and his close associates to acquire HYBE stock cheaply.

After pressuring former shareholders to sell their shares to Easton Fund at low prices, Kim Joong-dong returned to HYBE as CIO in March 2020. He then accelerated the IPO process by submitting a preliminary listing application in May of that year.

  • Fundraising for NewJeans... 'Team Bunnies' Official Involved in 'Violation of the Donation Act' Referred to Family Court Juvenile Division

An official from the fan group 'Team Bunnies,' who raised donations to respond to malicious posts about the idol group NewJeans, has been confirmed to have been referred to the Juvenile Division of the Family Court on charges of violating the Donation Act. This action considered the fact that the individual is a minor.

According to a synthesis of Chosun Biz's reporting on the 28th,the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office, recognizing circumstances suggesting a violation of the law regarding Team Bunnies official A (a minor) accused of violating the Donation Act, decided to refer the case to the Juvenile Division of the Seoul Family Court. The prosecution reportedly comprehensively considered A's age and the severity of the act, proceeding with protective case procedures instead of criminal punishment.

A legal community official explained, "There is a high possibility this happened due to a lack of proper understanding of the relevant laws," and added, "Minors are principle subjects of the 'Juvenile Act' application, and it was viewed that this was not a matter for punishment."

The Juvenile Division of the Family Court will review A's age, the degree of the act, the possibility of rehabilitation, etc., and deliberate on whether to process it as a protective case. If necessary, it can issue protective dispositions such as warning, community service, or probation, and if deemed minor, it can be concluded with a 'non-disposition'.

Team Bunnies is part of the NewJeans fandom, 'Bunnies,' a fan group created in support of NewJeans during the period of intensified conflict between HYBE and ADOR last year.

On October 21 last year, they initiated fundraising online, stating they would "take legal action against malicious posts related to NewJeans." The fundraising exceeded 50 million won in about 8 hours. However, controversy over violation of the Donation Act immediately arose.

The current Donation Act stipulates that raising donations of 10 million won or more requires registration with the competent administrative agency. Violation can result in a sentence of up to 3 years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won. A netizen filed a complaint through the National Petition, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government stated that the fundraising was not reported in advance.

The donations are currently known to be frozen. If an investigative agency is conducting an investigation, withdrawals of the donations are restricted for evidence preservation. Depending on the investigation results, unused funds are expected to be returned to the donors according to the law.

Team Bunnies received significant attention during the conflict between HYBE and former CEO Min. Their official identity was not revealed, but they described themselves as a 'group of experts from various fields and backgrounds supporting NewJeans.'

They supported NewJeans member Hanni's attendance at the National Assembly audit and sent text messages and faxes to many National Assembly members requesting the attendance of HYBE officials. They also claimed to have obtained comparison materials between the planning proposal for BELIFT LAB idol group ILLIT and the ADOR NewJeans planning proposal, and even disclosed the company's confidential external materials.

The NewJeans fandom 'Bunnies' also released a message stating that "Team Bunnies does not represent the opinion of the entire fandom."

  • Tbh, they should've registered before the donations, as we know that donations would've been flooding in.

  • The fact that a group of minors did a better job at supporting artists than their own label against others makes the whole thing with Ador's defence at protecting them laughable.

  • The time has been set 😉

  • I saw the info that

Registered capital of Min Heejin's new company, OOAK, was 30b won (roughly 21m USD)

The office of Min Heejin new company in Shinsadong was bought back on 24th April 2024, just before her first press conference, by a company named Huinhaon, the same name to an investment firm in China.

The CEO of this company, Eom Byeonghun, signed Newjeans petition in August.

Can anyone confirm (or disprove) these?

Wow if this is true i think it looks bad for MHJ and NewJeans

You can buy a viewing of a company's registration from the Supreme Court's website. Whether OP is peddling shit is another thing. However, if true, then it confirms my suspicions that MHJ/NJs have a Chinese investor since way back before ComplexCon.

  • You can buy a viewing of a company's registration from the Supreme Court's website. Whether OP is peddling shit is another thing. However, if true, then it confirms my suspicions that MHJ/NJs have a Chinese investor since way back before ComplexCon.

But would it? I think we've gone way too far into rabbit holes and connecting things with very little to no evidence.

OP didn't provide any proof or link to anything, even if you can get the company registration info, is that what the source OP cited did? We have no clue, and so much misinformation and fabrications have been spun from this entire mess on both sides that we need to be citing our sources for everything not jumping to conclusions based on a 'I heard' basis.

Then the whole office thing, the Korean housing market is famously difficult for domestics to buy properties to the vast majority rent. In this economy, a housing market heavily reliant on rentals is a a godsend for investment companies to survive whilst the economy is tanking, and I doubt this is the only Chinese company who owns buildings in SK. Heck Hybe itself rents its building, (https://www.allkpop.com/articl…id-korean-showbizs-wobble). Its not the smoking gun its being pushed as.

Then about the CEO, Eom Byeonghun, is he some pivotal figure? Is he CEO of some other Chinese company? Why is his involvement seen as such a smoking gun? The man signed a petition that thousands others signed? Is it that people don't think someone involved in the industry would risk upsetting Hybe by signing with their real name? What am I missing?

The only mention I found of this CEO is a post from sniper22 (who says they aren't the other sniper who is known for some horrific things but looking at their post history, and account creation time, thats very questionable) since that word is censored, you can find said account and post related to him by googling the CEO's name.

To be clear, I can't find ANY other source using his name and the posts from this account use snips and never provides any actual sources or links to articles or sources. Its basically a trust me bro *picture with korean text* and even the formatting of the text in the snips at times looks more like a random document someone typed up than an actual citeable source.

This thread is for actual news with sources.

  • I know...

  • I mean, where did you get any of this info? We can't confirm or disprove anything if you don't provide a source.

I came across a Youtube video by HYBE BOY. His username suggests he was pro-hybe still, his accent sounds Korean thus, he might access to something inter fans didn't. According to HYBE BOY, he found following info from Korean forum

    - Company registration info, including registered capital (said to acquire from authority webpage. In most countries, company registration is public document.)

    - The sale of the building. (A Korean netizen claimed he searched up the office location info as listed in the company registration and found the webpage of a real estate agent listing the building as sold off to a company named "huinhaon" on that day.) He added that Min Heejin possibly simply rented the building from that company but, it was mentioned her company was renovating the office and that building had been under renovation since May 2024 as archived by Naver Map.

Reading comments, I found following info spread within Army circle

    - The company Huinhaon shared the name with a company in China.

    - The CEO of that Korean investment company was Eom Byeonghun, who signed Newjeans petition in August.

Some senior successful idols do own a building or two. It is not impossible that Min Heejin's company does own one too. However, it is more possible than her company been granted the right to "use" that building for free, not to "own" it.

  • Again this really isn't proof of any sort. His accent and claiming to be on a forum nonwithstanding, the source he is citing is some random person on a forum where you can create fake accounts and they provided no evidence apart from, 'I found this but won't show you'. Even the Army thing, there are so many companies with similar or even the same name with one small change. There is a reason companies have registration numbers, companies can have names so similar you swear they must be related only to find out they aren't.

The sources you've mentioned aren't enough when we have seen so many examples of internet traffic being manipulated and rumours starting with no evidence. Remember the whole Hanni is an illegal alien thing? Heck even look at what happened to Tablo? To me this person sounds no more valid than people claiming to have heard from an insider that x idol is a mean person or saying x is gay and dating another member. Same with the army circles. Yes its not impossible for her company to own a building, but saying she might get to use it for free based on nothing is just wild. Even with the renovations, there nothing to say the company renovating it was always MHJ's company. Since that building was in construction the economy has wildly fluctuated and plenty of companies who were looking to upgrade offices have backed out. To be clear, I'm not saying none of what you've posted is right, I'm just saying there is no proof these are anything but rumours at this point as none of your sources are showing how they got this info in a way that anyone can verify.

  • Wow if this is true i think it looks bad for MHJ and NewJeans

Lol, it looks bad for hybe since they accused MHJ to have investor from Arab or that danmu something...only to find the "investor" is only regular people.

As per news, The owner of building is married couple who also medical professional,Koreans, and alumni of yonsei university. Since most Korean likes newjeans, it's only natural if many Koreans has signed the petition. And who knows, maybe they are just MHJ friends who want to help her get back to business....

  • NJ going to MHJ new company would be a big risk for them, it would just show that MHJ and NewJeans (their parents) did plan this together from the start and would open up more legal battles against both MHJ and NewJeans from Hybe and ruin their comeback even more. If they want to save themself they probably need to cut MHJ off.

    Based on what legal grounds?

Gonna need a paper trail for that, Patrick, and not use coincidences as a basis of reasoning.

I have said it was some "info", which means it can be either valid or invalid. I even asked if it was true, meaning I was still skeptical. I just wanna share such info existed and know if there was anything to prove or disprove its validity.

"Huinhaon" in no way is a common name (unlike "OOAK - One of a Kind"). 2 companies from different countries sharing the same name coincidentally is much less unlikely.

The capital of her company supposedly is 21m USD. If it actually bought and renovated that building, more than 80% had been spent on the office alone. (a building in Shinsadong + renovation must have cost over 18m) That makes zero business sense. The saying that it's her company renovating the building appeared to come from a post of Min Heejin herself. She posted a photo of the building and left a description. It's said she posted it was her new office and it was not finished yet, she was renovating it.

All info I asked could be easily verified if one was fluent in Korean and willing to spend some time on it.

    And, your saying

    Quote

Since that building was in construction the economy has wildly fluctuated

can you verify this? Can you provide me any evidence when the building started being constructed?

Even if the info be completely true, itself does not tell if Min Heejin/Newjeans does anything wrong. There is the power of "speculation" to interpret this in different ways.

Hanni being "illegal" alien is not completely baseless. She lived in SK under working permit arranged by Ador and her new visa (what type that is even) was not granted by appropriate way. A MP admitted he used his position for it. (This can put one in jail in many countries.) This rumor is more of big exaggeration, not really "baseless rumor".

Your wall of text only tells me you knew nothing, just would negate anything negative to Newjeans unless it was very certain.

Lol, it looks bad for hybe since they accused MHJ to have investor from Arab or that danmu something...only to find the "investor" is only regular people.

Since most Korean likes newjeans, it's only natural if many Koreans has signed the petition. And who knows, maybe they are just MHJ friends who want to help her get back to business....

HYBE never said Min Heejin ever talked to those investors. They just acquired the evidence (e-mails) that Min Heejin considered to contact those persons for investment. Whoever actually invested does not weaken HYBE's defense at all.

Can you provide the link to that "news". If not, this is as valid as unverified rumor. And, unless the "medical professional" couple ran their own clinic/hospital, they unlikely managed to buy + renovate a building in Shinsadong.

NJ going to MHJ new company would be a big risk for them, it would just show that MHJ and NewJeans (their parents) did plan this together from the start and would open up more legal battles against both MHJ and NewJeans from Hybe and ruin their comeback even more. If the contract between Ador and Newjeans terminated, Newjeans is free to run to whatever another agency legitimately. Ador cannot revive a closed case.

Newjeans have made themselves unfavorable to others. Any label but, Min Heejin's one, must be reluctant fearing they may run to Min Heejin whenever. It may be impossible to cut Min Heejin off.
