I'll give my short impression of each girl group.

BLACKPINK: Forgettable. One of my least favorite BP title tracks.

Twice: Solid. Overshadowed by HUNTR/X though

aespa: I only liked Dirty Work, and even that was a downgrade from their 2024 music (except Armidgeddon)

IVE: Kind of a return to form. Very solid releases this year

LE SSERAFIM: I loved the Hot roll-out and mini-album. I find their most recent title track literally unlistenable

    idle: Meh

Itzy: Not bad but not outstanding

    NMIXX: The Greatest

BABYMONSTER: ...YG do better because they deserve better

MEOVV: Bops on Bops on Bops. I liked all their tracks this year

    ILLIT: I'll not

Hearts2Hearts: Okay, they have potential. The Chase is a grower and Focus is a bop. I liked their music a lot this year.

HUNTR/X: I'm still going up, up, up with my voice. If NMIXX didn't just drop the album of the year, HUNTR/X would've been my pick.

Kiss of Life: Catchy. Sexy. Just not my favorite.

Other: SHOUT OUT TO ATHEART FOR THE BEST DEBUT SONG, "PLOT TWIST", SINCE NEWJEANS RELEASED "HYPE BOY"

  • Aespa !!!! Rich man and Dirty work are still my most replay song

And i liked all the Bsides in rich man EP

    My other choices were :

Blackpink but besides Jump they didn't release anything else

Katseye : i love GNARLY with all my soul and body, and i like gameboy but i didn't like any of their bside in this EP

MEOVV : but burning up was such a let down after the amazing hands up and drop top

H2H : like their songs these years but less than the other gg

And the rest of the list just released 1 songs i like from them or released song that just left me neutral and never wanted to comeback

  • yall are so weird with this recency bias

all of a sudden yall like nmixx cuz they released the best album of the year when there isnt that much of a gap with their previous albums and their most recent.

they just hit #1 and all of a sudden everyone likes their music like please can yall success stans stay away and not taint the nswer fandom omg

love that nmixx is getting their flowers but yall are moving weird. especially you, yama.

  • ? If this had any merit people wouldn't have been loving Know About Me when it came out half a year before they charted well lol..

"all of a sudden yall like nmixx cuz they released the best album of the year".. like YEAH? :meme-life-support:

Are people not suppose to like good music? Pretend O.O was as good as their music this year..?

  • Okay I will give my thoughts.

Nmixx - the obvious winners, no competition. They did that rare miracle and actually released a good Korean full-length album. Can count on one hand the number of times that has happened. They've also just levelled up really well. I think Break might still be their best work, but they've expanded on it so well. Really looking forward to them continuing to develop, and especially hopefully doubling down on the more emotional songs like Blue Valentine, Adore U and Shape of Love. Hardly any other girlgroup does that stuff.

    Huntr/x - I don't know them

Illit - Little Monster is probably a top ten track of the year. It's a masterpiece. Jellyous is really good. The rest might as well not exist: Not bad! Not good.

Blackpink - probably shouldn't comment before their album which IS dropping this December. But I don't have much hope because Jump is, as expected from Team Teddy, low-grade eurotrash. Sounds like something Sash woulda released in the 90s. The cringe is magnified by the fact that the Blackpink girls spent the past year+ releasing much better music. I would like the forum's biggest Teddy glazers try to convince me that they genuinely believe Blackpink's upcoming album is going to be remotely as good as Jennie's album.

Kiss Of Life - Some of the best music put out this year. Maybe not blow-your-mind good, but their consistency should be studied. I can understand why they don't get credit for it given the... whole thing, but, like, I can't lie. They're good: Talented vocalists, nice timeless pop productions that don't sound like they're aimed at 5 year olds.

Katseye - some of the worst shit I have heard in my life. Baha Men have competition.

Twice - they also managed to release a good full length album! But in a weird way: None of the tracks are great, it just happens to be better than the sum of its parts due to how it flows. Especially the latter half. I really admire how convincingly they play against type in the subunit songs. It's their best Korean full-length. But that's not saying much, because their other ones are bad (come at me Formula of Love glazers). They did follow it with their worst Japanese album, but the recent solos album evens the score I think. Wow, so actually, technically two good full lengths in a year. Never been done before! On the other hand, their title tracks left a lot to be desired: This Is For is a nothingburger, Enemy is completely generic in its subgenre, and Me + U is almost aggressive in how boring and uncreative it is. Like 1 is the only good track they promoted this year, damn.

Overall, they had a much better 2024 than 2025 musically.

Aespa - some of the better title tracks of the year, which is a damning indictment of k-pop. They didn't put out much this year did they? But outside of what was promoted, this stuff sounds pretty low-effort if not cringe.

Ive - Don't have much to say here.. completely forgettable. Is that worse than cringe? idk, maybe, at least Aespa tried things. I wouldn't believe that these songs came from the same group that put out Eleven and Love Dive.

Le Sserafim - Hard carried by both the Ash->So Cynical one-two and Different/Kawaii, which are still a long way from the absolute heights they achieved last year with the Easy EP. Weirdly, I still feel quite positive about them. I feel like you gotta be releasing more than four good songs in a year to earn good will, but the competition is so bad that here we are. I think it helps that they're always well-produced even if their tracks have zero ambition.

i-dle - The only k-pop group in history that I have a 100% miss ratio with. Their 2025 output is no different.

Itzy - miss. They were doing ok last year, Born To Be was a good mini. But this now they're as confused as ever. Both the Korean and Japanese releases sound dated and kind of anonymous imo.

Babymonster - speaking of dated and confused...

    Meovv - Babymonster with a 20% improvement.

Hearts2Hearts - probably the second best clutch of promoted tracks outside of Nmixx. The Chase is a GOAT-contender debut as far as I'm concerned, it's so good. Style & Focus also good, maybe not as good (especially Focus, which I think is kinda missing something). The EP is... whelming. I dunno, they could do better.

Other - ifeye and atheart cleared most of the above.

  • Shut up and stop crying.

Also, I suggest you stop trying so hard to instigate me into responding in ways that will make everyone else suffer.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

  • Twice - they also managed to release a good full length album! But in a weird way: None of the tracks are great, it just happens to be better than the sum of its parts due to how it flows. This Is For isn't even close to being their best full album, that will forever be Eyes Wide Open, TWICE's Magnum opus. But TIF is much better than FOL and Twicetagram.

Enemy is actually a top 3 Twice Japanese title omg you have no taste :cryingr:

You're also wrong about that last part. 2024 was terrible for Twice. With You-th era sucked so much, I wish it never existed. You Get Me is the only thing worth remembering from that era and Strategy EP was saved by the title track and Keeper. Otherwise its literally their worst EP filled with some of their worst songs.

Lil Fantasy was so disappointing btw

  • This song is no different than all their previous ones. It sucks that jarring tempo chnage 😭

I feel like as long something is top on melon people will have circle jerk over how much they love it lol.

  • I would say huntrix. Golden, What it sounds like even Free at top tier.

But if we're talking about 'real' ggs, BLACKPINK had the best TT and BY VERY VERY FAR!

they only had ONE song tho...

special mention to Nmixx of course who had the best group album drop this year. and a good ep droped earlier. they released alot of music this year!

of course there are other examples as well, such as Atheart, Rescene, Ifeye, the latest Meovv drop...And aespa as well. Specially their bsides who are extremely good if not the best.

  • This song is no different than all their previous ones. It sucks that jarring tempo chnage 😭

You two are being indefensibly ignorant. More than usual, which is an accomplishment.

The song is doing so well because people enjoy it so much and it appeals to a lot of people, whereas previous songs have been extremely polarizing, significantly damaging the public's trust in their music since debut.

Also, what's with the Love Me Like This erasure? That song was a top 10 hit.

And for my part, Blue Valentine isn't even a top 3 song on the album for me. I made a thread about the B-SIDE:

And I've previously lavished praise on KNOW ABOUT ME, which didn't chart at all. Not all of us are this hobby for the shallow, vapid reasons you two are.

  • I agree with everything except Jump was an intergalactic BANGER, aespa had really good bsides this year and that huntrix had better songs that nmixx even with a great full album drop.

Golden/WISL/Free >>> any nmixx song released this year

Also despite nmixx album being good, it still feels 'empty' to me... it's like the composition and production is really good, but the execution by the group is very underwelming/boring making the overall product strangely impressive yet forgetable at the same time :meme-what: ...
