Aespa might not always dominate the charts, but they’re quietly defining what “art direction” means in K-pop

  • This is exactly why you need to join us in the fight against charts. aespa’s lore, concepts, music, and all other elements of their artistic vision are far greater than any chart. It’s a shame to reduce them to fleeting numbers.

  • would one say F(x) were successful though (I honestly wasn't around during their time so I don't know either way)

and if they were considered successful then doesn't that sorta prove me point...

like how many nugu or less successful group's concepts do you remember or know of?

People always brought up After School too, top 13 - 15 in 2nd gen. In other gens they'd even forget about groups below top 6.

FX could be considered successful because they were an SM group. However, compared to most SM groups, they were easily the least successful except their 2 groups that failed or something. FX doesn't even compare to Red Velvet in success. They only had one concert tour with only Seoul and Japanese cities and sold around 50k tickets only.

Digitally, they did better and even got ranked in billboard lists for the 2010s decades but that was it.

I don't think that is as successful as other groups considered successful from all generations. If you compared them, their would be a great China Wall between FX and other groups.
