I am so pissed off at NMIXX. Actually just livid at them. How dare they?

    How dare they release the best album of the year AFTER I saw them live for the first time at KCON LA this year! :meme-ahhh:


    Blue Valentine is one of one, in a class by itself, as far as top album drops by a girl group this year.


    It's actually a zero skip album.


    Aside from the GOATED song of the album for me, "SPINNIN' ON IT", the other stand outs for me are:


    Blue Valentine

    PODIUM

    Crush on You

    Reality Hurts


    But again all the songs are great. I didn't know JYP producers could cook up something like this anymore.


    The last JYP Girl Group B-Side I love was this and that was apparently a decade ago :meme-life-support:


    This album might enter my masterpiece ranking :meme-cheers:

    That last one is the only one I dislike.


    It's not as strange and experimental as Forward, not as straightforwardly enjoyable as Break, not as consistent or cohesive as either, but still very good. Best full album released this year easily, though Forward is strong competition for kpop release overall. More than anything I think it's very promising for their future evolution.

    How are we feeling about Nmixx's first full album?

    I think it's very good, definitely the best full album by a k-pop group I've heard in a while. It's hard for me to gauge though: The last full album I enjoyed this much was NCT 127's Walk, and that album's best cuts (Orange Seoul, Time Capsule, Rain Drop) are atmospheric and sophisticated in a way that is atypical of k-pop, whereas Nixx's whole thing is that they are stereotypically, maximally k-pop.     I haven't liked their previous stuff I've heard, but they came from nowhere and gagged me this year ngl :meme-life-support:


    My top song (+ one of my top overall this year) is Spinnin' On It, my next faves are Phoenix and Podium.


    Their EP earlier this year is solid too, Know About Me and Papillon especially.

    Passionfruit->XOXO is a legendary one-two punch imo.



    I'm one of the ones that clowned on Nmixx on debut and pretty much ignored them until Break. Dash made me pay attention even though I didn't immediately like it, and I'm glad I did, because that EP really blew me away. It wasn't my absolute favourite from 2024, but it was easily the best release that was quintessentially k-pop, if you know what I mean.


    I still think they levelled up hugely on that album and their previous stuff is a bit choppier (Expergo in particular), but honestly, after actually understanding what Nmixx is about (which is not: jarring change-ups), even stuff like Tank started to sound incredible to me.

    I only listened to Dash which wasn't for me, but I'll definitely give this album a listen soon!

    I was expecting something amazing for them with their debut, and was disappointed because it wasn't what I was expecting. Over the years I enjoyed their debut a bit more, but it still reminds me of being disappointed


    The group actually click for me with their b-side cool your rainbow. I feel that song is beautiful and showed their potential because the vocals and everything sounded amazing. That's a song I will always point to when I recommend Nmixx because it's just a beautiful song that I feel most aren't aware about. After that I became a major fan of them because they won me over

    again i love the songs when i listen to them (i cant unhear some fx influences in the album too :eyes: )


    but i forget the album even exists the next day :pepe-just-smile:

    i can't explain but something essential is missing, even in the production/execution something is lacking for me to consider the album as belonging on the goats list...


    still shape of love, spinning in and reality hurts are personal favorites. (+ ador u, blue valentine)


    and it's the best group album i heard this year. but it wasn't really a good year either. i guess jyp is on the right track at least. but it kinda feels like they are moving into territories that are yet too new.
