Do you think aespa members will have the longest career in the public eye from 4th gen?

  • Will aespa be the most relevant 4th gen group/idols in the public eye once 4th gen dims? 4

    1. Yes (2) 50%
    2. No (2) 50%
    3. Hmmm (0) 0%

I’ve noticed a lot of 4th gen groups/ idols aren’t as popular as they once were. It feels like the time is happening where 4th gen interest is peaking/has peaked.

Groups/idols that used to have comeback events barely are of any interest to the public it seems  (Aside from a tiny few exceptions).

The oldest 4th group is now 8 years old :!:

My question is once 4th gen fades into the back like how 2nd and 3rd gen has, will aespa girlies be the most discussed/up to date in the public eye :?:

Both in group or solo activities (Think of Tayeon, Yoona, Jennie, Suzy etc)

  • Thing is we don't know what is going to happen after 10 years, SM has this habit of focusing on newer groups.

However, aespa is one of those groups where each members has great individual branding that even as a whole they don't release music or do things as often as a group I think their solo endeavours will do well.

  • As a whole group?

I think so. Each of them have a large and dedicated enough fandom to be successful in their own right, but I guess only time will tell.

New Jeans might be another one perhaps depending on how that goes.

I meant both so group and solo activities! I’ve noticed the girls getting a lot of brand deals and being made ambassadors individually :/

I actually see them doing very well with individual activities keeping them in the public eye more so than group activities (thinking in like 5-10 years time) but just curious to see what others think

Exactly what I thought. I actually think their solo careers will keep them in the public eye more than their group actives in future :/ honestly I only see Wonyoung and Yujin to keep up from 4th gen and maybe Stray kids Felix and Itzy’s Yuna

Ah yeah soz, I meant individually with each member across the group.

  • Unless some of them success as actresses. Otherwise, no.

We can take examples from 2nd and 3rd gens idols: Sohee, Seolhyun were both super popular at some points, but they didn't have many big acting projects so the popularity faded away.

Music career won't take idols too far tbh. Currently there are no former girl idols could maintain their music career for more than a couple of years after their groups disbanded / hiatus.

Then there is Hyori, but she is an exception, not a rule.

  • uncertain but I'm learning against no???

you have the likes of IVE, LSFM, Itzy, Gidle, NJZ etc etc

take for example Gidle and Yuqi - she is pretty big in China in additional to Korea

now obviously I don't have numbers nor can I back anything I say up but I would argue that since China is a bigger market than SK and unless NN starts (increases) her Chinese activities soon then there is no way any one of the aespa member can surpass yuqi

  • I think one of the challenges for aespa, both as a group and as individuals, is the fact that 50% of the group aren't Korean. This is especially important for post group solo activities. It will really depend on what Ningning and Giselle choose to do, whether its to try and remain active in Korea or globally or return back to their home countries and pursue more localised solo activities. For differing reasons, Japan and China tend to be more isolated/isolating in regards to celebrities. Not as much International push. So if Ningning and/or Giselle choose to go home and pursue solo activities there, while they may still be very successful, as global fans we may see less of them than we'd expect. Which in turn would impact aespas overall visibility.

  • Karina - most likely to have a long career because I think it's hard to lose a fandom of that size. I think she will see a lot of success as a soloist and most likely will be this generations Jennie imo. I think SM needs to give her solo opportunities soon because we've seen what she was able to do with Up. Not a fan of the song but the results are there and she needs a follow up.

Winter - I'm unsure about because I think with her vocals she should be able to have a career as a soloist. However, unsure if she will have that big of a following. Maybe because I'm an international fan but I feel she hasn't grown that big of a a fanbase. It felt she didn't meet the expectations SM had for her because I remember she was the member that was pushed early. I assume she will have a Wendy type of soloist career and not the soloist career of idols mentioned in the OP. That's not a bad thing imo

Giselle - very unsure because she's most likely considered a foreigner even though she's half korean. I think Giselle can shine if she gets a chance to have an acting career. I was impressed with her acting in some of Aespa's trailers over the years. I'm just unsure if she will get a chance in the korean entertainment industry. Maybe she will have a chance in the Japanese entertainment industry to show her skills.

NingNing- is the wildcard because I think she built up quite a name for herself and most likely can see success in China. She might move away from the Korean entertainment industry but I assume she should be fine in the Chinese entertainment industry. I do feel she holds all of the cards if Aespa will continue as a group because if she doesn't extend and goes back home, then I think Aespa is done because unsure if they want to do Aespa as a trio

I think it's best for all to renew but have in contracts they can take on solo opportunities. It's always good to have group activities to fall on if things don't go well. Despite what AKP says Aespa has built a strong brand and they should be able to continue for many years.

  • Aespa will go as long as SM want them to be, knowing how SM, they would just tie 2 members from a group and go along with it. aint no SNSD without taeyeon yoona , no fx without sulli krystal, no RV without Irene Seulgi, and soon no Aespa without Karina Winter.

if ningning and giselle were smart, they would establish connection and just bail out after 7 year contract. they should learn the pattern from now. wendy and yeri did it too late.

and Karina is 1 or 2 slip away from losing the public, the witch hunt already started wether you like it or not. Winter is the wild card tbh.

if you are the top top girl group, blackpink already show you the blueprint. Signed just for the group activity, build your own company for your own future.
