I care ALOT. Beautiful voices + great production + great creative direction/visuals is what all kpop is about for me. Nice voices is what makes the songs at least half as good. It has an enormous impact in the quality and value of the songs/music!

The only strong performers used to be Wonyoung and Yujin but now the rest of the group has caught up. They feel more cohesive now.

I hate music that is very obviously derivative from other eras or blatantly sampled (that's also why I can't listen to new jeans either) and theirs unfortunately fall into that category. I only enjoy love dive, Xoxz and a bit of eleven.

i like their discography a lot especially afterlike, it's been like what? 3 years and it's still one of my most replayed song until now.

but as a group, only wy and yujin shine the most, the others especially rei leeseo and gaeul feel like fillers

edit: also njz sound is vastly different from ive, the project was more focused on artistry, vocal tones and emotional delivery rather than high notes and crazy vocal runs like in classic kpop which was more ive's music signature style.

nj girls haven't even fully showcased nor developped their all vocal abilities yet. cause it wasn't neccessary for their sound yet or their concept. and eventho for now they aren't flashy vocalists, ALL of them can sing well and have beautiful voices. which is a KEY point of why their music is so addictive as well, which was my main point all along in my original comment .

As for Ive itself, with the hiatus of NJ and the inconsistency of Aespa, Ive are the reigning queens of 4th gen. Everyone be hyping up Aespa but do people realize that Ive actually had the last #1 song of 4th gen with megabop Rebel Heart?

Musically, Ive had one of the greatest runs in Kpop with Afterlike, Kitsch, I Am, the Pepsi song, and Off the Record. These are 5 straight songs that range from 9.5 to 11 out of 10. Not sure this will ever be matched again in Kpop history. Where Ive falters is their B sides, which are almost all mid.

If you add Rebel Heart to these five songs, that makes SIX singles with a rating of 9.5 or higher. Unbelievable.

Then you have Wonyoung, the It Girl of Korea, and Yujin. Aespa only has Karina while New Jeans dont got anyone of their stature.

4th gen as a whole has been the funnest most interesting era of Kpop. 3rd gen was marked by the absolute domination of BTS and Blackpink globally while 4th gen has seen a crazy roller coaster ride of ups and downs, scandals of every kind from rigging to bullying to corporate espionage to hate trains to presidential elections, groups coming into and out of and then back into favor...and behind everything, a massive shadow war between Hybe and SM/Kakao for the very soul and future of Kpop.

When 4th gen falls away and fades into history...

Nice group but has lost a bit of their magic. And they do a lot of sampling that I find jarring, and imo it cheapens their music.

2023 album is good, and Love Dive and I Am are two of the best GG songs ever. Kitsch and Off The Record are great as well.

I don't even know all the members so I don't have much of an opinion. But what I will say is that their live vocals are actually solid from clips I've seen from Lollapalooza, they sounded great.
