Golden has topped Hot 100 for 7 weeks, but since Taylor Swift will release a new song on Oct 3,Golden's stay at #1 will probably end at 9 weeks.
Meanwhile BTS' Butter stayed at there for 10 weeks, which is unthinkable now but in that year Hybe did conquer the world, with also Justin Bieber and Kid Laroi.
However, in retrospect, it is now clear than Golden is a stronger song than Butter.
Golden has silenced all opposition in Korea. No need to repeat that fact. It has reigned for more than 70 days, and has no sign of falling down.
Butter was not like that.
Butter ruled USA for 10 weeks, but the people in Korea was not impressed and rebelled against it immediately.
aespa attacked BTS, and Next Level took Butter down from #1 in Melon, which was the beginning of the end of BTS in my opinion.
However, aespa failed to follow through this victory, and the Melon chart was dominated by a song from MSG Wannabe (a project of Yoo Jaesuk) and Lee Mujin's Traffic Lights.
Another Hybe act (at that time), Justin Bieber and Kid Laroi, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks, and it also topped the Melon charts for 39 Days.
It is when BTS released its collabo with Coldplay.
However, the BTS-Coldplay collabo made #1 in Hot 100, but not in Melon.
Why?
aespa's Savage was at #1 and the BTS-Coldplay collabo failed to beat Savage.
However, Savage's reign was only 7 days, because at the precise time the Owner of Edam Entertainment jumped into the arena with the song Strawberry Moon.
Like Cho Yongpil attacking Psy from the back in 2013, the Owner of Edam Entertainment, not tied to anyone in KPop and able to act according to what she pleased, attacked BTS and aespa and defeated them. It seems the Senior Singers of KPop have an urge to attack the front runners from the back.
So, BTS was unable to silence aespa and the Owner of Edam Entertainment, while Huntr/x was able to silence aespa and now the Former Owner of Edam Entertainment.
That is why Golden is a more solid song than Butter.
