Which generation created more legitimate stars, second gen or third gen?

the question is as usual what does one define as star and how do we measure it

and there's local stars vs international stars

Taeyeon might be more of a star within SK but is she more of a star internationally even compared to say Jisoo?

Yoona is a star within SK and greater Asia maybe but does she match say Lisa's level of international stardom?

how do we compare say Taeyeon + Yoona (2 stars) vs Lisa (1 star) - what I mean is is this a pure numerical exercise ask which gen produced more stars numerical or does have greater stardom mean more "stars"

With the girls twice and BP are also so much more successful than their 2nd gen peers in the same time frame.

Simply put 2nd gen GGs had very small life span because of their inability to tour. This is why they needed solo careers. That’s not required for 3rd gen. Everyone in twice is making enough money with their group content alone something which was impossible for 2nd gen.

3rd gen have more shortlived groups than 2nd gen, both in absolute number and ratio. By the logic there should be more solo stars.

No, it's not the reason. Most of 2nd gen popular members were popular while the groups peaked, they didn't need to wait for group disbandment.

I live in the West, the second generation is completely nugu here. So I vote for the third generation, since the members of BTS and BP would definitely go on much bigger tours as soloists.

Thinking about it. If we don't count the biggest bg and gg of both generations (BB, WGs/2NE1, BTS, BP), 2nd gen still has an easy win.

You didn't specify inside or outside of Korea. In Korea? Easily 2nd gen, although the lion's share of them made their real mark as actors, not as idols. Internationally? 3rd gen, but none of them are actually "stars" in most places, just better known than 2nd gen idols.

Isn't it obvious? IU alone clears the whole Industry, and if we add G-Dragon and Taeyeon, no one has a chance.

Taeyeon NEVER had a World Tour, thanks to SME, the minute Wendy left SME, she's already doing a World Tour. Hence, no one can compare Taeyeon with any BP members. Especially with Jisoo, who is, let's be honest, flopped in her own country with her first comeback.
