Netflix payola? Netflix promotions? Kpop demon hunters is literally at #1 on Netflix, the biggest streaming platform in western world (I'm obviously excluding YouTube). It got this big due to positive word of mouth. That's all they need: viral film. Both groups don't have fandoms, don't have streaming farms or streaming parties; they are doing well on charts because GP like them.

To answer the question: both yes and no. Yes, if they were the ones who sang ost, no, if it was a regular song they released. Why? Because not everybody cares about kpop.

People who listens to other genres focus on other genres. I don't listen to the most popular genre in my country, i find it awful and i have no idea what's popular out there, avoiding it at all cost. If songs from that genre were included in popular films and tv series i would definitely heard it and might possibly like it. That's what happened here: GP watched the film, heard the songs, liked them and they are dominating the charts. This isn't the first time and won't be the last where music ost music are doing well on charts.
