Agree/Disagree: NewJeans, SNSD, BLACKPINK and Twice are the most successful girl groups in K-Pop history

  • NewJeans, SNSD, BLACKPINK and Twice are the most successful girl groups in K-Pop history 52

    1. I disagree (30) 58%
    2. I agree (22) 42%

This is public. It's an all or nothing poll.

  • Not Newjeans, it's an insult to even include them.

The continued impact that TWICE and BP has had since their debut has affected the 4th and 5th generation massively that they've been given a free run into the global Kpop market.

There's a case for aespa and IVE to be included especially as we know HYBE's tactic of future ordering where they stack their Album Sales numbers for the first week.

  • That sneak you just setting them up why would you do that

Like any success is going into legal fees for now

    Ain't no sneak.

By pure metrics, they're already more successful than any of the other groups with an argument between them and BP (they peaked MUCH higher in Korea than BP).

    I said what I said.

NewJeans did more in 3 years than any of these girl groups did in 7.

  • NewJeans could retire today and have 90% of the girl group records.

    You're all high.

Don't make me start achievement spamming.

Time is important, they have not proved they can stay popular and relavant for 4-5 years, mostly they have lived on a huge hype from their debut year. It was now they should prove to could handle next step, but they are doing....you know.

  • And people will move on from them. They’ll be the Katy Perry of Korea. When teenage dream dropped she was doing things that haven’t been done in decades. And then what happened? Nothing. She’s now just an after thought.

Without longevity NOTHING matters. And everyone other than your delulu self knows this.

Their songs are literally still charting. Get Up was the most streamed girl group album on Spotify yesterday. They've sold well over 150k albums.

    ALL THIS YEAR

    :boompepe:

    Wishful thinking.

    Too easy.

  • Do you lack comprehension :pepe-joy:

Do you not know what teenage dream did :pepe-joy:

It’s so easy to end you over and over again it’s funny lol.

What I feel bad about is the way you keep setting NJZ up when they have so many records actually worth boasting about instead of you putting them against groups that have a huge body of work and years to their name. But then again you jumped to the trash known as Teddy and TBL music so like it’s all for the best.

  • That's nice.

I actually don't care what you think. Your opinions are worthless to me. You're uninformed, ignorant and constantly insert said uninformed, ignorant takes in conversations like these as if you have any credibility to be taken seriously.

You are David tier to me. That's the regard I hold your takes in at this point.

You are no longer worthy of my time, same as him.

Don't play these games with me, AKP. If anyone is being set up, it's you all. I can absolutely bury all of you with numbers and data at will. I am electing not to for now, since I'm not interested in fighting. For now. But if I have to bring out that dog in me, I will.

There are zero indicators of NewJeans being "forgotten"; the exact opposite has happened actually. How ironic the smooth brains in here talk about longevity, when NewJeans' music literally has the best sustained longevity of any girl group in history.

  • What you can’t accept is people don’t consider ANY of the records you posted to be enough for NJZ to be in the list of legendary.

So you keep spamming the thread with it isn’t going to change anyone’s mind.

  • Only because you got so completely owned over and over again :pepe-joy:

You nobodies don't matter to me. Only my opinion does. What's so hard about that for you to grasp? I keep making threads because I hold my own opinions in such high esteem and will continue to share them, because I know I'm right.

    Do try to keep up.

  • Interesting premise here. The major question, is NewJeans brief history more impactful than a group's 7 year career?

Not going to name any musicians, but there are plenty of musicians that had a 3-5 year career, and they're considered one of the goats in their respective genre. NewJeans brought something fresh to the Korean music industry that will continued to be copied. They've created new records, and are a major what if group if they don't return.

Again the question is did NewJeans do enough to be considered one of the most successful groups? I want to say yes, but we have to see how Aespa performs as the "leaders" if they're unable to come close to NewJeans impact, then NewJeans have a very strong case imo

  • if they're unable to come close to NewJeans impact, then NewJeans have a very strong case imo

That opportunity passed long ago. aespa's career best year in 2024 was still far behind the peak of what we saw from NewJeans, and NewJeans still dominated every statistical category in 2024, even with the HYBE sabotage.

This is no shade on aespa, but the impact they've had on the industry compared to NewJeans isn't even close.

Now cue the people rushing in to say NewJeans have zero impact, after going into other threads and blaming them for ruining K-Pop due to all the groups who emulate them today.

  • Also, can anyone here do math? NewJeans was clearly the top girl group in the industry in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and the numbers, surveys, records, awards and everything prove that. They were active until just this past March.

If you're going to shade them, at least get the timeline right.

  • NewJeans could retire today and have 90% of the girl group records.

    You're all high.

Don't make me start achievement spamming.

Except 100% of their success is due to TWICE and BP making GGs relevant.

And let's not forget about the COVID impact.

But NJ's fails a basic test as they tried to claim mismanagement while supporting a CEO when it was going on.
