Sorry to say I really don't feel sorry for her, she knew going in what the conditions would be and every idol ever is on camera 24/7 basically. I don't know what made her feel special and think conditions would be different. The survival show should have been a key to conditions.
Now just to say I don't believe idols should be subjected to extreme dieting long work hrs etc but they do know signing that contract what it means. (i don't mean for my comment to sound crass but text can seem that way)

That's probably why something like, "A Week as a K-pop Trainee" programme is probably needed.

but only if those conditions are explicitly referred to in the contract no?
if such conditions were not in the contract then you'd say she has case?
one person/entity cannot infer what another person knows unless it is expressly mentioned (preferably in writing)
EDIT: to add this is under California (US) jurisdiction compared to SK

good point
and also I would add more to that, how many groups are actually working that much? only top groups...
You can see what happens with most other ones, just one, sometimes two comebacks per year, not much of concerts, festivals to appear in. There are even groups which seem popular and then suddenly they have 1,5 year break between one and another comeback...
basically the hardest time is doing pre-recordings for music shows, and filming MV, and that's it
I think many times it's actually the mindset of Idols which is wrong, many of them does something like:
"Today I woke up at 1 PM, so I quickly ate, prepared myself and at 3PM went to agency building where I stayed till 10-11PM and then went home."
Why not maximize and actually do some effort? People are waking up to work at 4-5AM, so just wake up at 8AM be in agency at 9AM, then go back home at 4PM. This way you can even get some sun light and breath fresh air.
Even kids in Korea are staying longer in school these days and then go to cram school... basically Korean teen goes to middle school/high school at 7AM and is back home past 8PM. Adults who are working mostly work for 9-10 hours.
Idols really shouldn't complain. Of course like I wrote in the beginning only top groups are overworked, but in same time they are paid greatly for their hard work.
Ah and about diet I would add one thing, that these days it's not like in the past when trainee would eat one apple and nothing more. I know because I follow ton of girl groups and they share many times what they eat, and they are eating well.

I am mixed on this. This was marketed as a global group and JYPE can't use the kpop system in a foreign country. There are labor laws in play and JYPE has to make sure they abide by them. I think it's a mistake to use the kpop system with a global group because different countries will have different customs. A lot of the stuff that happens in the kpop system would not fly with the American labour system especially in California. Like with most things cultures clash and they needed to find something that works within the American culture.

Y'all would argue for slavery if it came from a kpop company omfg
If what she's saying is true: the her company is 1. Violating her contract 2. Violating state and federal labor laws and 3. Violating child safety and labor laws
Why do we expect more adherence to contracts and laws from idols, most of whom are kids, than the companies?
