I like Denmark's song, even though it sounds kinda generic.

I think Sissal is a good singer, and I have sometimes listened to her perform live.

I remember even seeing her in a musical once.

We have so many good artists who would give us way more points, but nope, not happening

If I could've decided who to send to ESC we would be having Nico Santos or Electric Callboy or some, maybe even ClockClock, Milky Chance, ... they would for sure all bring in more points than whatever nonsense is chosen each year

I think 2018 because Michael Schulte had one of the best songs my country send in a very long time, nothing ever hit like what he had send

And his music still hits hard to this day (You can also see it on the strong Spotify plays where some songs hit even more than 100 million streams)

I do not know if you watched the video or not. But if you did, the guy who AI himself as a hijabi woman, pronounced himself dead lol. When i say him, it was his aunt or something like that. Nobody on social media believed he died i wasn't one of them, i really thought he died but it turned out he "resurrected" a day or two later, apparently someone took over his insta and wanted to take revenge on him forgot his name, it was said in the video

Gabe also covered a mess in my country. First, sms voting was rigged; 2nd, political mess in my country. All interval acts were from years ago, nobody wanted to perform. Tldr: on nov 1, canopy that weighted few tones collapsed on the railway station killing 16 people. It was reconstructed by the government. We've had protests since then and political tension is with each day worse and worse.

Nobody thought he would win, he didn't win televote nor jury votes. If there was no sms rigging they would have won public votes (warning, it's a lot 😂)

But even if sms wasn't rigged he would have still won. All in all, messy Eurovision in a messy year. It fits

Went though the vid. His name is Sasha Bognibov and is a sick person as in not well in the head (i didn't need to add this after false death story, i get it). Tudor Bumbac is ESC legend i didn't know we had, thank you gabe! This was his 7th attempt to represent Moldova. Watching this is a must!

Okay, my first impressions (i only heard Sweden before):

Semi 1

Poland: everything looks so dated, it's 10+ years too late

Norway - inoffensive generic entry no. 1

Slovenia - i like it tho there's no chance it's qualifying

Belgium - this should be a song that i'd like but it somehow it sounds mismatched? The beat and melody/his vocals don't go together? And singer feels a bit out of place? I'm confused

Iceland - sounds dated too, it even has key change lol

The Netherland - best one so far. It has stromae vibe, and it's not because he's a black man who sings in french lol

Azerbaijan - inoffensive generic song no. 2. Verses sound like Get lucky

Sweden - amazing. I'm used to hating on Sweden, i guess this year I'm taking a break from it lol

Portugal - i would never think Portugal would send something like this. It's awesome. Fave

Cyprus - generic pop song no. 3 that i like :D

Croatia - oh what to do with you lol. The "sunny" part is awful. I get what they were trying to do but i think they failed

Albania - i like it. Please, Albania, don't ruin your staging like you always do

San Marino - inoffensive pop song (in Italian) no. 4

Ukraine - they just know how to do Eurovision

Estonia - i know this is a popular song and i get it, it's so catchy

So for now my faves: Slovenia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Albania, Ukraine, Estonia

Semi 2:

Australia - awesome, such a bop!

Montenegro - it sounds dated. Lyrics are so dramatic. "Hold on, smile, it will pass. It will go away, it will stop but when?". Jeez, calm down lol. Btw she was the singer that represented montenegro iirc in 2013 with Who See - Igranka. The song did well with televote but jury killed it. Ugh

Ireland - generic edm song no. 1 that i like

Latvia - awesome. Ethnic sound done well

Armenia - I'm not saying it's bad but it's not my taste. Tho i can grow on me. Eta: I'm still in the middle of the first listen and already grew on me lol

Austria - not a fan of opera singing but this is beautiful. Fave

Greece - yes, it's in greek! Beautiful, loved it from the first line

Lithuania - i swear i heard "pradeda" which means grandfather in Serbian lol. I'll google later. Anyways, love the song.

Malta - generic pop song no.2. I know that it has a lot of hype about especially about serving cunt (kant my ass) but it's too generic for me. Chorus or do re mi fa sserving is the only part that I like

Georgia - i like that georgia is always doing their thing. I love everything but chorus. So i don't know what to think. It would be great film soundtrack

Denmark - inoffensive generic pop song no. 3. One day I'll like danish entry but today is not that day. I think this is the only country whose songs i never liked lol

Czechia - i like it. It can also work as film soundtrack or better, trailer because pre bridge doesn't fit :D

Luxembourg - it kind of like childish?

Serbia - dated. But i should be happy we are at least there and he sings well

Finland - i heard this one before. I didn't like it then, i don't like it now

My faves: Australia, Ireland, latvia, austria, greece, Lithuania, Czechia. Armenia could be added there

I hope that Denmark gets in the final.

One reason is because they haven't been in the final since 2018.

And also because Sissal was saying "We're going be in the final" when she won.

And well... if she doesn't get in the finale, I can imagine some Danes probably clowning her.

I remember though when I saw some Danish internet comments disliking her song (like wanting Tim Schou's song to win instead or Adel The Second's) and also talking trash about her appearance and stuff.

And then there was the "Go back to Greenland" comment...

Israel - i hate that i like it. It sounds like french entry lol

Spain - i have a feeling Spain sent this song before lol

Italy - not my type of a song. Sounds like ex- Yugoslavian song from ages, ages ago. Maybe older generation from here will like it :D

France - i like israel's French entry more than french entry lol. Meh

UK - I don't like it. I get what they were trying to do but it so disjointed, it's all over the place.

Switzerland - i don't know. It's fine? But I don't see myself listening to it. It's so dreamy but somehow boring

Germany - i like it! And it's in German! Such a bop! Tbh, this song the biggest headbanging and legs moving!

But well... those comments were Facebook comments, and there are times when people seem very mean on Facebook.

I have to say I'm quite happy with our contestant this year, compared to previous years at least she can sing really well and has some charisma and stage presence.

The song is not going to be for everyone but the performance is kinda extra, so maybe people will like it. I personally like the dark-ish pop folk vibes of this song and the album it's from.

I'm actually tempted to make a thread about her, cause I really envy her vocal skills and I think Gaja doesn't really show them off enough. 😅

I still need to listen to all the other contestants, as I don't like to spoil myself before the semi-finals. From the short preview video I like Greece, Malta, Albania, Switzerland, Austria. I kind of dig Croatia but I need to hear the whole song and Cyprus reminds me of the 2000s eurodance/pop. And Malta's song really sounds like kpop to me. 😁

People on the internet forget that people they are talking about are real people, with real emotions and can get hurt. Critique someone's art, don't attack them on personal level ffs.

Not only on Facebook, sadly. Here we have a couple of gossip sites and the way people talk there about our eurovision entry (and other artists and celebrities), it's crazy how much hate they can pour on someone.

But then my country has always been known for hating our own, so I'm used to it I guess. A lot of people here tend to focus on what they don't like and hate everything, sometimes extremely cruel and bullying online.

Hopefully the Danish contestant gets into the finale, so the public won't be cruel to her. At least our contestant is old enough that she ignores all the hate at this pointy, but it can affect younger artists a lot more.

Maybe they will succeed, you never know until the voting is revealed.

Just out of curiosity, are your representatives chosen by the public or by a jury?

I'm asking because here in the past years it was always a jury with some professionals and industry insiders who chose the artists, and it always caused so much conflict, because the artists chosen was usually different from what the viewers wanted.

The biggest example was in 2023, where a public favourite was Jann but the jury chose Blanka, who could barely song but was pretty and apparently had connections. (I actually agreed with the public here but never posted any hate)

This year for the first time in a long time we had a public vote in the country selections, so a lot of people were happy but as always, the artist still gets tons of hate online.
