The craziest things you've ever done in the name of K-pop? (also... Dreamcatcher related)

  • I honestly thought that flying to Seoul from Australia to see Blackpink in 2022 was very silly of me.

I topped it in 2023 by waking up at 3am to go line up in the entry line for Blackpink in Sydney to get barricade (I got barricade). It was very silly of me.

This last weekend just passed in Sydney I topped them both.

Dreamcatcher was in town. Ive waited YEARS to see them properly. I had SVIP tickets that gave me priority entry. I NEEDED that barricade.

I didn't sleep well Friday night and only got five hours sleep and an early flight to Sydney. Spent the day shopping. Headed past Town Hall, where the concert was, at 4pm and saw some guys I knew from previous Sydney concerts at the door. Asked them what they were doing... Lining up for the concert, which mind you didn't start for 27 more hours. I told them they're brave, had a chat and said I'll see them at 4 or 5am Sunday morning... Check into hotel and couldn't stop thinking...

And then decided to do the very silliest thing I've done in the name of K-pop yet...

By 6pm Saturday night, 25 hours before the concert, I went back to Town Hall, and told the guys I'm in. I was one of the first people in the line.

And that was the start of me lining up on the steps of Sydney's Town Hall for the whole night and very next day in 37°C (98F) heat to make sure I got that damned barricade spot form Dreamcatcher last night. There were actually 35 people in that damned line by 10pm that night. But I was at the front. I was tired. It was hot. But I got to meet so many dedicated Insomnia. We talked about the recent news.

AND I GOT THAT GOT DANGED BARRICADE. I GOT THAT BARRICADE GOOD. I HAD JIU AND YOOHYEON (AND THE OTHERS) NOTICE ME MANY TIMES. I YELLED OUT TO YOOHYEON THAT I LOVED HER AND SHE ACTUALLY SAID SHE LOVES ME BACK AND BLEW A KISS (I know she doesn't actually love me but still)

    IT WAS WORTH IT!

But it was also very, very, very silly and I'm tired and sore today.

    So...

What's the craziest things you've all done for K-pop!

  • Well when you lead off so powerfully, I really don't have the heart to even attempt at following that up.

Probably standing in a monsoon, queued right next to the Ocean, to attend the second of two Mamamoo fan concerts in Tokyo; this one being the night concert.

It was a comedy of errors involving several inverted umbrellas from the sheer force of the wind as well as extremely uncomfortably soggy shoes from all the rain.

Or maybe it's when I did 3 straight days of standing seat when I went to my first Mamamoo concert back in 2017. Not even counting all the queueing before the concert each day, that was literally 10ish hours of standing on my feet and jumping around like a maniac

Then again, I've also caught a ride with other MooMoos to welcome Mamamoo at the airport before too, a scene that I filmed and was actually used in their official documentary.

Or maybe I need enduring the blazing heat of Lollapalooza in 2023 to see NewJeans. I came prepared with a hydration pack, or I highly doubt I would've last the 6-7 hours I stood there packed in with literal tens of thousands of people, watching at least a dozen pass out from heat exhaustion and get carried away.

Hmmm...maybe I have a little crazy in me after all

    :meme-overly-attached:

  • Mad respect man

Tokyo Typhoons are no joke. Standing around in one for a concert is definite crazyan behaviour.

I knew you'd have a story or two
