Will TikTok being banned in America impact kpop promotions and trends moving forward?

Yup. I think its also known as Xiaoshonghu but yeah its kinda like the Chinese version of Tiktok.
Probably.
And honestly, I dont even know why they are banning Tiktok to begin with. It doesn't make sense.
For some reason, TikTok is the only app that they are concerned with out of the countless others that could "access user data and use it to spread misinformation."
Its giving
Tiktok was unwilling to ban or censor pro palestinien opinions like meta did for example. The zionists got scared of the younger generation being so overly pro palestinian. That's why.

The Instagram changes are NOT popular though. Especially the grid. People and companies really put a lot of work into their "instagram" aesthetic being based on squares, making little mosaics etc which are all ruined by the grid now being rectangular.
Then theres the new "here's a feed where your friends/family can see all the reels you've liked" which is gross, invasive and likely to drive engagement on reels DOWN, not up.
And theres the simple fact that for short form content Reels and Shorts are just nowhere near as good as TikTok. Clunky interfaces, less video editing tools, lower engagement, payouts for creators aren't as fair and the algorithms are fucking awful. Like, try as I might, I cannot get Reels to show me stuff I actually want to see, instead of weird, gross shit it feeds me. AI Slop, gross out videos, completely inappropriate ads (why would I want to buy real estate in Dubai???).
The alternate platforms are inferior products, and instead of improving their product, they got some poli's in their pocket (TomCotton.pdf) and got the leading product banned.
And yeah, I think this will impact kpop promotions to a degree. BUT the app isn't banned in SK. So it'll be a question of how much effective reach they can still get on TT without the US eyeballs

Just a few examples of how the gross new layout in tiktok farked up some K-pop insta pages. The images were uploaded when the layout was squares, to make a nice bigger image mosaic. When it's changed to rectangles, that broke.

Instagram is already losing a lot of users and their obsession with trying to becoming the new TikTok is shameful
There’s no privacy anymore and everything is to accommodate reels/tiktoks not photography like the original design
Imo either a new Social media will explode into popularity or people will settle on twitter/youtube
-
people will settle on twitter/youtube
Which are just as bad, if not worse.
Twitter is a right wing cesspit now, giving voice to violent, hate filled, rapist, pedophillic and out right mentally ill nuts like Alex Jones, The Tate Brothers, Nick Fuentes and Elon Musk.
Youtube, and its parent Google, are becoming increasingly anti user, such as killing ad blockers this year, allowing malicious ads and scams to target more people because they let anyone who throws money at them advertise, no matter how bad.

honestly its not just about the pro palestinian stuff
There's a lot of political stuff being exposed/called out by a lot of tiktok users who make videos where they explain the different bills and projects and what that could mean for the American people. Basically, the gov doesn't like that americans are actually being educated on political matters through an uncontrollable source.

Because Musk and Zuckerberg are losing lots of money with 170 million subscribers going with TikTok. All this ban will do is piss people off, won’t make them go back to Facebook, X, or instagram. People are already flocking to Rednote and Lemon8
Yup and the new instagram layout will not help, lmao.
