For those of you who are finding it difficult to get used to the layout, I recommend giving retro mode a chance. In terms of design, it's the closest mode to old AKP.
The colors work together better than dark mode in my opinion. Easier to read.

Plus, the retro mode's layout is the most similar to old AKP. It's still different from old AKP, but it's called retro mode for a reason.

i hate the background highkey but i do find it comfortable to use

I agree with the background. I don't like that background either; it looks messy and out of place. In terms of font and layout (with the navigation/info bar on top), it looks like it's the closest to old AKP.
Overall, I like the look of light mode the most, but it could sure benefit from a bigger font size. You can always adjust the font size from your browser's settings, though. Give that a try.

I don't really like retro version. My favorites are Shy and Mystic. I like the font on Mystic!
