Donald Trump Refuses To Rule Out Military Action Over Panama Canal, Greenland

  • Donald Trump on Tuesday refused to rule out military intervention over the Panama Canal and Greenland, both of which he has said he wants the United States to control.

"I can say this, we need them for economic security," the incoming US president told reporters.

"I am not going to commit to that (no military action). It might be that you have to do something."

  • Panama Canal. Greenland. Canada. All of these places have one thing in common: the CCP is spending a lot of money to gain influence and control over them.

When Trump refuses to rule out military action he isn't talking about US colonial ambitions. He's talking about using force if necessary to keep the Chinese military out of the Western Hemisphere.

  • A loaded question no matter the answer. Is reported to confirm the worse condition.

Your going to use the Military to take over Greenland? Answer 'I never said that'.

Because 'No' was not the response. Its Reported 'you are going to use the Military to take over Greenland'.

To answer 'No' is also a pitfall and reported negatively.

Not defending Trump, The Question and Reporting is malicious.

  • but wtf for greenland? Arctic circle trading?

As global warming is projected to continue, resources in the arctic and countries in those areas become more important e.g., Canada, Russia. Greenland, of course, has tons of natural resources that are untapped due to the island's climate, particularly rare Earth minerals.

The reporting isn't malicious, his warmongering answers are.

  • Latest stance revealed by a open press questions.

During his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Trump ruled out using military force to acquire Greenland and instead called for "immediate negotiations" with Denmark regarding the territory. He emphasized that the U.S. is the only nation capable of defending Greenland and expressed respect for its people and Denmark.

Spoken like a true Diplomate. XD

  • Trump is playing a very dangerous game. I think everyone knows a real invasion of Greenland would spell the end of NATO and very likely be the catalyst for WW3 (with no NATO, there's nothing stopping Putin from invading the 3 Baltic states, and the military turmoil triggered will make this the perfect time for the CCP to blockade Taiwan).

So Trump is trying to call Europe's bluff imo. He's hoping that Denmark will cede Greenland to preserve NATO and preserve global peace.

But I also don't think Trump's threats are empty. I think if Europe continue to refuse, he will order military action as a last resort. They are probably planning something similar to Venezuela where he hopes to overwhelm them with special forces and seize control without any open battles.

I think his biggest similarity to Putin and Xi Jinping is he wants to go down in the history books as his country's greatest leader in modern times, and he thinks expanding the US boarders and wealth is the way to do it. I think he's past the point of caring if he triggers World War 3 or not, which is why I think he is the most dangerous man on earth right now, (in my opinion he is more likely to be remembered as a Hitler than as an Abe Lincoln, George Washington or FDR).

  • Greenland is flyover land for Ballistic Missiles from Russia to the Eastern US. Prime location to install Anti-Ballistic interception system. To destroy the entire MIR Ballistic Missile before it separates into multiple war heads. Greenland is very Strategic for Defense of the US. A Fact not lost on US potential enemies.

In the World of speculation enemies occupying Greenland would invoke US to respond militarily. NATO would give mostly Lip service. NATO has stood by during Civil wars in Yugoslavia and Russian invasions of Georgia and Crimea. These wars are in their Backyard. Imagine how motivated they would be fighting for an Ice Land thousands of miles away.

US helps protect Europe, how about a little bit of Europe helping the US to protect itself.

    TDS not withstanding.

US have had military bases on Greenland for ages or at least since WW2 and if they want to have troops their Denmark would not say no. It's just Trump that want to grab land and put his name on it.

Danish officials have underscored that they share U.S. concerns about Arctic security, have invited discussions about an expanded U.S. presence through the 1951 agreement, and have increased Arctic defense spending. Danish and Greenlandic officials also have expressed support for a stronger NATO role. In Greenland, some of President Trump's statements have sparked public concern and drawn rebuke from political leaders. On January 13, Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated, "If we have to choose between the United States and Denmark here and now, we choose Denmark.... Greenland does not want to be governed by the United States." In a January 2025 poll in Greenland, 85% of respondents said they would not want to leave Denmark to become part of the United States.
