What's your opinion on LE SSERAFIM as a group and individually?

  • LE SSERAFIM was the first ever k-pop girl group that I fully stanned.

What caught my attention was their first Gayo-Daejeon performance as well as their first MMA Performance with Kazuha's iconic leg lift.

But with all the controversies surrounding them in the past, I feel like they've lost some popularity domestically but I also feel like the reason behind that loss was the double standards present the industry that we're all too familiar with.

So I'm wondering what other people think because I'm bored. Feel free to be honest.

  • I LOVE streaming Le Sserafim songs when i’m out and about or running but i never ever watch them live because im always left a little hungry for more (live vocals)

Theyre wonderful performers…. Like amazing, but when i see G-idle, Nmixx, NewJeans and even IVE singing live while doing choreo i’m like…. Okay girl…

u should watch their recent university festival performances!!!

  • Let’s start with positive things

They are one of the best performer ggs in kpop

They are 2nd best dance oriented gg in 4th gen

But I just can’t Stan them because of vocals

I usually Stan vocal based groups and LSFM aren’t good vocalists(below average vocals same tier as MISAMO in terms of vocals) and it shows even in their studio version of their songs

Their coachella fiasco wasn’t surprising for me at all

Also their music isn’t consistent! They do different music every single time! It may be a good thing for someone but I think group should have an identity sound to have longer career

I actually don’t care about sound switches and I only care about music quality!

In terms of Music Quality Hybe BGs>>>>GGs every single day

Also I think their music quality have decreased since easy era

I like most of their pre-easy era music

My most favourite song is still their debut song Fearless!

I think they are one of the most enjoyable ggs in terms performances

You can say I’m a casual listener

  • They have some nice songs, but their attitude post Coachella didn't look good to me like you did a terrible job and just acted like a brat as if the criticism wasn't valid so after I kinda just stopped keeping up with them. And yes, I'm talking solely about criticism, hate is terrible, but I'm talking about real people, not those weirdos online.. overall for now I dropped them as a casual.

Individually idk much about them so better be silent 😶.

I hope not to see my faves dragged though bc of my answer :exit-pepe: I am on topic..

  • They have some great songs and some not so great songs, but overall I like them. All 10/10 visuals and I've watched my fair share of Chaewon compilations. The criticism on their vocals was warranted but as always overblown by too many people and turned into something ugly. I do not hold anything against them for their response to the criticism (since a lot of it was just hate) either, it's understandable that someone would respond like that.

  • they don't know how to sing, even hybe confirmed it but i could care less, their last great cb was antifragile + it was their last hit one, their great performers, they need to pull off another antifragile- some of the members aura needs to be worked on but their decent - but something that they need to do is train to sing cause thats what they are paying for

First of all, you're kinda wrong.

Knowing how to do something and being able to do it well are two different things. All of LE SSERAFIM I would say CAN sing however not all of them can do it well. Sakura and Kazuha are ones I would say are better suited to be rappers since the group (I think) needs to have more rap verses (or songs0.

Secondly, they are not being paid simply to sing. They are paid to perform and be idols. Singing is part of it but it is not always a necessary feat.

  • they shouldnt have debuted + please name them out, i want to know

Why do you get to decide which idols should/shouldn't have debuted?

Momo, Sakura, Shuhua, Jungwon, Jay, Chaeyoung, Lisa, etc

These people do deserve to be idols plus I'd get why they can't sing well...because they were not specifically trained to be vocalists plus a lot of them have a bad technique that is not suited to their voice type. They were trained to be IDOLS.

  • I am now the biggest LE SSERAFIM fan to post in the thread. I fell for the group, not strictly because of their music, which didn't initially blow me away, but because I wandered randomly into a rabbit hole of clips from their variety content on YouTube.

Very quickly, I thought the girls were the biggest crackheads I'd seen on screen since Mamamoo, which is a big compliment.

I like Sakura always being such a damn gamer and willing to do almost anything to make good content for her fans

I like Chaewon for being such a clearly capable leader on one hand but also more often than not being the butt of most jokes at the expense of her members, always lightening the mood.

I like Yunjin for being the absolute meme queen. No, really. I've belly laughed at some of her infamous moments. She is one of the best mood makers I've seen in any group ever and she radiates confidence.

I like Kazuha for being quite unexpectedly one of the funniest and most creative members in the group, even when her Korean was still barely passable. She's also freakishly athletic by idol standards, as even a casual fan knows

And lastly, I like Eunchae for being the biggest ace of the group and the quintessential maknae. In a group where every other member has an extensive background as idols or other performance arts, I find the way she's carved out her role in the group endearing.

And Antifragile, for me, remains one of the best girl group songs of the 4th gen. I love that song and like most of their songs.

2024 was not kind to them, but historically speaking, they've always had some of the best and most creative stage performances. It's a shame that shameless fraud is their main benefactor, as it's hard to separate them from him, when he's so embedded in numerous aspects of the group.

  • frauds and thiefs just like their bang daddy.

    queens of payola.

    dont care about their character.

if a group of singers can’t sing or even stay in tune except for one member, then its not a group for me.

more like a group of posers.

  • There is a difference between rapping and singing live, no?

And when she sang live in BP she was never dragged, she did extremely well! And nope, but one debuted as a rapper who when sang, it didn't cause discomfort while others can't either rap or sing while sounding good.

If Kazuha sounded good rapping then it wouldn't be a problem btw, you just need to sound good live while singing or rapping, but if you can't then it's kinda pointless to be up there with a mic.

She does sound good (imo) seeing as she trained for only 6 months. The only ones I hear complaining about her rapping are the haters (not saying you're a hater).

  • To me, that's part of their identity as a group. The fact that they are not afraid to try new concepts and new music.

I am a SHINes Stan an OG experimental group in kpop, so I actually really like music experimentalism, but Lsfm lacks one aspect to pull that off which is vocals! Some genres require heavier vocals while others don’t! If lsfm will be able to sing better in the future I’m sure they can pull off many genres!

My ult fave Taemin was called tone deaf when he debuted and had 0 lines in their debut song “Replay” but he tremendously improved and now he can be a main vocalist in 99% of the kpop groups

This is his latest LIVE performance in KGMA! Just watch and imagine how a person who was called “tone deaf” could become a great vocalist!

But the thing is Hybe is a big problem here and they are not moving their *sses to help many of their idols to sing healthier and better! So I hope Hybe hires good vocal coaches for many of their idols and gives them songs in their vocal range!

  • :meme-stare::meme-keep-out:

  • Someone sounds bitter.

    She does? :pepe-clown-gear:

I won't lie and I'm not trying to be rude, but I stopped listening ALSO bc her, Eunchae and Sakura vocal tones aren't for me. In some songs one or the other will make me go: :exit-pepe: but like if you like, good, but when an idol gets super criticized over their singing ability sometimes it isn't just hate...

But like, I stan some controversial vocal tone idols so what a circle :drown-in-tears:

  • Fine, you asked.

All the talent and hype of a cover band.

    • Derivative knock off songs blatantly copied from what is the top of spotify/tiktok at the time of their comeback. Western pop's shein equivalent. When I say Cover band, I mean this. Why listen to an LSF song when you can just listen to the better version of whatever artist (Tyla/Rosalia etc) they're ripping off this comeback.
    • An amazing lack of talent amongst the group, struggling for any vocal or rap talent amongst them, and a vacant stare of non-existent stage charisma. Every "performance" i see that is hyped up is them buried in a sea of back-up dancers.
    • Vocal tones that warrant on unpleasant. Almost universal. Complete lack of vocal direction in the studio, which isn't necessarily the girl's fault, but it's still the product Hybe ships.
    • Marketing full of sound and fury, but no substance. Selected on visuals (by their own admission), every comeback is some sort of marketing scheme attempt to portray them as fearless independent when they're anything but.

Much of this is not actually the Idol themselves fault, at least 4 of them (I'll single out Sakura has being in the industry 10 years and never improving). The other 4 I do believe work had and do the best they can do. They're not naturally gifted with much talent, but they do go hard. I'll certainly give them that.

I don't want to be too mean about the idols themselves. But the group is rubbish, it's the tip of the sword of post-truth marketing and hyper capitalism. There is nothing behind the curtain with this group, and it's stanned only by credulous people.

  • I see. I would say they've improved in their vocals and that's only the first step.

You should check out Crazier if you want to observe their vocal improvements.

  • Lsf as a group music wise is hit or miss for me :?: if I’m being honest I think they don’t have an identity music wise for me. They seem to follow the latest western trend music wise which I don’t mind but Smart and Water was painfully obvious

The members themselves seem nice enough and are pretty! I think they are just as talented as the standard Kpop group tbh I think it’s just luck/ bad luck they’ve been exposed the way they have :/ on one side coming from Hybe has given them a massive boost to most things ( like big 3 usually maybe more) but on the other side it’s been their downfall because they come from Hybe they’ve been exposed the way they have so quite unfortunate :!:

I do feel bad for them. I think Hybe has unintentionally made them an easy public enemy for K-pop psychos stans! Writing them to replace major non Hybe GGs, talking about how they perform and sing better than non Hybe GGs, and using NJ popularity to boost their own and more etc never seen anything like this before!

I’m curious to see if they can somehow turn this around :melon_think: I guess only time will tell n

  • She does? :pepe-clown-gear:

Well yes, naturally not every idol's vocal tone resonates well with fans. I understand that.

  • perfectly well explained!

but the worst is that daddy bang spends his time destroying, ploting, harrassing, copying and stealing from other actually talended great girl groups (njs, xg, aespa etc...) just for their sake :cursing:.

while using mass payola if not worse for them to sell an illusion of success over these ggs.

    all for that mediocrity.

    UNFORGIVABLE.

  • I liked Sakura and Chaewon from Izone

    I remember yunjin from pd48

so naturally post disbandment I gave both IVE and LSFM a shot and I like the members I like a lot of their songs

I like their personalities (at least what we see on camera)

are they the best singers - no

are they the best dancers - no

but at the end of the day different strokes for different folks

  • You're also wrong.

    1. The fact that you are one of the many people who mistake overall talent for vocal talent shows how you can also be considered as significantly credulous.

    2. "Derivative knock off songs" really?? The last time I checked none of LE SSERAFIM's songs are copied. Just because Tyla released Water then LE SSERAFIM released Smart and they both have roots in Afro beats and were released in the same year does not make it a knock off. I ASSURE you that if Tyla's Water had not gone viral, y'all would not be yapping about how LSF plagiarized Tyla.

    3. LE SSERAFIM are one of their generations BEST performers (they are among the few that actually achieve captivating performances). So you saying that they are "buried in a sea of back-up dancers" shows just how little you know about LSF. My point? You have no right to be critical of a group you know little about.

    4. You're criticizing them because of how their voice sounds?? Omg, just when I thought you couldn't be any pettier.

    5. Don't you DARE disrespect Miyawaki Sakura like that ever again. She has been an idol for nearly (if not more) a decade. She has experience AND she can outdance half of her GG peers.

You sound like the stereotypical hater that just reiterates the information that they so gullibly absorb from other losers on the internet. Go take a shower, you stink.

  • They as a group are cohesive, i really like their songs, (titles are a hit or miss but b sides? Gold) and their performances are top notch. Their content is amazing and what made me a stan, each one is so unique also a d i love their dynamic. They remind me of Fx in some way. (Also was one of my fav groups in 2nd gen)

Never understood the criticism of (having no identity) because they sure do. Having different sounds for comebacks does not mean no identity. Many groups did that before them, and many will after.

  • If you're willing to try out some of their b-sides I can give you some recommendations.

Honestly, I've got a love-hate relationship with Crazy. It's a fun song and a breath of fresh air from what is typically seen in k-pop but I feel like the lyrics did not deserve the instrumental.
