I've never EVER seen a company set up their own idols as badly as BeThief Entertainment did with ILLIT today

And you can guess how well this landed with the Korean public. ILLIT is getting KILLED right now.

Keep in mind that Hanni originally didn't name any group or label and also said that the group did greet her and that the manager is the one who was disrespectful

MHJ also said that the members of ILLIT have zero blame in this and it's the fault of the shady adults behind them.

But all that aside, how can they honestly think this is what is in the best interests of ILLIT? They keep wanting to blame and sue MHJ, when they're the ones causing ILLIT the most harm.

  • Atp I don't even feel bad anymore

Bunnies, even the ones that hate on Hybe groups now, were trying to understand and defend Illit last time Belift blatantly threw them under the bus and implicated them in their blatant lie to get a cheap shot at Hanni. And you know what the response was? Their so-called fans defending Belift bringing more more hate to them and basically saying Hanni is a bully that deserves to be humiliated.

If their own fans are going to side with Belift blatantly using those girls at their own expense, why should anyone else care?

  • Uhm, Illit case is something I've never seen in kpop like sure new groups are created to "replace" the old, inactive ones, but in this case we have a group being created to replace a rookie group and looking exactly the same like there are several photos, videos where if you aren't that familiar with both groups you would think they are the same so while I pity the girls, it's still weird knowing all the b t s stories.

Belief + Hybe are the worst companies ever with such incompetent and unprofessional people that will do anything to destroy literally teens bc of their own incompetence. I'll never stop to say how terrible they are as humans and even more as CEOs. They are dumb and in the worst possible way.

  • reading this particular interview, all I can see is that he seems very respectful with his words acknowledging the influence of NJ on 4th/5th generation and yet maintaining his position about this mess saying what the company has said before, which is an issue to be resolved in court and denying the accusations... I don't see anything new here to inspire hatred against Illit, unless people are already looking for reasons to hate them

The problem is Hanni went out of her way to not say what group the manager belonged to and made it clear the artists involved weren't a problem

Hanni made the accusation against the manager. Why does Belift keep bringing up the members and playing the victim card like they got accused?

  • The only defense against this I'm seeing through the comments is that MHJ said enough to imply the group was ILLIT anyway in her talks, of course I do not know if this is true cus I aint watching some poorly translated MHJ talk lol. Though I wouldn't exactly call that a good defense...

In either case, it still seems like they are just using the ILLIT girls to gain sympathy points, so yea it's messed up. And all you have to do is look at the top comment on that article to see the results of this. Look at the comment and what they are saying about Hanni. Like why? She did nothing, was she not supposed to speak up at all?

Like I still feel bad for the ILLIT girls themselves and I do feel bad for their fans as well but many of them are retaliating even worse than those they were originally provoked by.

  • The problem is Hanni went out of her way to not say what group the manager belonged to and made it clear the artists involved weren't a problem

Hanni made the accusation against the manager. Why does Belift keep bringing up the members and playing the victim card like they got accused?

Well, I could be wrong as most of the things I see on this topic are here on AllKpop and I don't go out of my way to research anything about this...BUT to me, it doesn't seem like they are playing the victim card and more like holding their ground... MHJ, NJ's parents, NJ's fans and NJ himself have been giving interviews and public statements left and right about this situation... they are constantly expressing their feelings and opinions and the impact of the actions of those involved in the their mental health...so, for me, the CEO of Belift lab is expected to use the same tactics, expressing how they feel about being accused, the impact of this on the mental health of the teenagers involved and of course, sharing their side of the story ....it seems they chose to fight fire with fire

Also, he just stated things that had already been said before by the company... nothing really new

His statements are all just gaslighting 101. Notice that even in his interview, he openly admits to receiving the planning documents for NewJeans, something BeThief Entertainment initially denied and threatened lawsuits over? And then his grand excuse for all the obvious similarities between the groups is "Every group that followed NewJeans was influenced by them", as if we're talking about two groups from completely different labels having slight overlap, and not one entertainment label literally stealing content from another label under the same parent company.

But even that could all just be another case of gross incompetence to file in the large folder of HYBE blunders this year. What makes this so much worse is that he tried to use ILLIT as shields AND he even spoke for them multiple times, and now his words have become their opinions and that is getting them a massive amount of hate right now.

Even if he chose to do that, he could have said something far more sympathetic like "The girls all just want the conflict to end and promote happily", not the comments he chose which makes it seem like ILLIT are accusing Hanni of lying and supporting all the atrocious media play HYBE/BeThief have engaged in to drag NewJeans down.

The caveat here is that MHJ, NJ's parents, the fans and NJ made comments in response to all the awful media play, hate articles and "leaked" footage that came from HYBE.

We cannot let the plot be lost in the refuse of all this mudslinging, because it's important to remember that MHJ and the parents did everything internally and HYBE was the one to not only make this dispute public but also clearly pull the lever on a bunch of defamatory, abusive content, most of which was sourced from Korean's equivalent to 4chan. Hell, the ILLIT twitter account got caught following a well-known NJ anti account.

I don't get how they were accused when it was Belift that decided to name Illit as the group involved and shift the focus onto them and away from the manager.

Also, he just stated things that had already been said before by the company... nothing really new

Going on about how Illit feels in this situation (that again, Belift put them in) and how NewJeans has made them afraid to perform is just extremely poor taste imo

Hell, the ILLIT twitter account got caught following a well-known NJ anti account.

The following an anti incident was greatly exaggerated. They followed someone who is an illit fan who made a few shady tweets about nj/mhj. It wasn't a well known account, they only had 300 followers and they never really got many replies on their posts. Many people checked out the account before they went private including me. You really had to scroll a while to see any of the shady posts so it's very possible whoever followed them didn't even see that. Even then the shady weren't any worse than typical stan twitter stuff. You occasionally drag/shade IVE, you could be labelled an IVE anti with the same logic. Almost everyone on twitter is running a "hate account" if a few shady posts is all it takes.

They also followed someone who stans newjeans along with illit. why does that mean nothing but following an "anti" mean they hate nj?

  • This company is genuinely incompetent.

That's what happens when you hire too many male nerds lacking self awareness and EQ in positions of power.

In normal business that might not be a huge problem, but in this public facing industry they need some balance given the demographics of kpop consumers.

All this could have been avoided by them not pulling the victim card and naming Illit in the first place, and apologising and taking action to remedy the ill feelings.

Instead they double down and go for the victim card again.

The members know very well what happened during that incident. They said, 'Why do they have to go this far?'.

Well done, you've now just insinuated that Illit themselves are calling Hanni a liar.

I feel for the girls, but this dumbass company just keeps setting them up as a target.

    Mona said it perfectly

  • While I understand how Illit is wrong for airing these thoughts about Hanni, I still can't help but feel a *bit* sympathetic for them still. They are also being screwed over, having their reputations harmed as well. They're young, impressionable, and stressed. Does that make what they believe right? No, not at all. But clearly nobody around them has the maturity to guide these girls down the right path.

I've personally never blamed or attacked the members of ILLIT once, not since April, when this chaotic corporate combat began, until this very day. I do not condone any Bunnies who participate in malicious hate campaigns against ILLIT, while we ourselves are under assault daily from the same toxic treatment from HYBE stans.

This thread is solely a critique of BeThief, their clown of a CEO, and how they keep finding new ways to set ILLIT up and throw them in front the arrows intended for the bumbling buffoons running that shit show.

I feel sorry for ILLIT. Genuinely. I wouldn't even be upset if they do have some negative feelings towards MHJ and even NewJeans, but the worst possible timeline is the one we're in now, where their boss thought it was a good idea to share their alleged thoughts on the situation in a cheap attempt at garnering sympathy.

It's a bad look to say the least.

  • I can confirm he didn't

  • Ppl are just on one when it comes to Belift. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. So if rather them at least continue to stand on their business and try to help defend the Illit girls in some way.

He didn't say anything wrong. Hanni was wild during that Livestream for mentioning such a non-issue and making it seem like such a big deal. I could understand illit being confused. Although to me it's pretty obvious that it was only brought up as a last ditch effort to try and get MHJ back as CEO. Hanni was really messy for that.

On a side note, I can't believe MHJ still hasn't taken up any of the plagiarism issues in court. I'm just going off the links in the post. But it seems like she can't prove her allegations.

Honestly, Belift could be going a lot harder for all this drama they were dragged into

  • mhj technically started it for wanting to take over ador even tho she shouldve made her own company

should've had faith in her in the first place 🤷‍♀️ But HYBE has an inferiority complex, they wanted to step on aespa, so in a desperate attempt recruited in ex-IZ*ONE leftovers, which directly contradicts MHJ’s original vision. Factor that in with what they made NJ members go thru as trainees at Source Music and you wonder why MHJ wanted her own company 🙄

Dude. I don't do PR. But I'm saying not mad at them for speaking up. All other parties can say something, but Belift is an evil company for jumping in and trying to mitigate? Maybe it wasn't successful but I definitely understand the reason for trying.
