Religion Debate

  • I think I detect an unsaid derision towards MHJ because she consults a Shaman of Korean native tradition.

I wonder how the reaction would have been if she had consulted a Christian preacher or a Mullah etc.,

Global narratives tend to be arrogantly dismissive of native, organic religions not shown towards Christianity and of course nobody in the present day dare say anything about Islam- they will be dubbed Islamophobic - cancelled, doxxed and can get worse depending on the country they live.

But 'pagan' religions, they can be mocked and abused with no repercussions.

  • I'd be equally dismissive regardless.

Just like I am not just dismissive, but downright resentful, of politicians that make political decisions based on whatever fairy tale woo bullshit they've been brainwashed into.

If someone consulted an "invisible, intangible, gigantic chromatic Dragon" (or the appointed representative thereof) for their political, business or life decisions that ultimately impacted many other people, we'd rightfully think they are delusional.

But this happens everyday and nobody seems to care, most politicians mention religion be it Christianity or Islam or whatever else when they discuss what they doing. Hell it's a major part in most nations cultures and even seen as the basis for many of their rights freedoms and general traditions of their respective lands and laws.

Most people either believe in some religion or are apathetic to it and thus do not care how much an effect it has in their lives

  • Another example.

Jennie's "Pretty Girl Mantra" referencing the sacred chants of Hindus, Buddhists etc, nobody cares.

But would anyone dare naming a song "Sexy Girl Shariah"? Or even "Glamour Girl Gospel"

Pretending to treat all religion equally is just BS.

  • I see your victim complex is still going strong. The word "gospel" has been used in tons of songs with secular or even unsavory subject matter, and that word is much more closely associated with religion in English than "mantra." Most English speakers are westerners and likely aren't even aware of this loan word's use in eastern religion. And if it weren't already obvious to you, Jennie is using the word in that English context, despite being an easterner herself.

My being victim or you being a jerk is irrelevant to the debate.

That English has appropriated something, so it can be used any which way, is a poor argument. Try that with say "Nigger", which after all comes from Latin for Black. - yet the sentiments of the involved people is respected, because they have clout today

    Hindus don't.

Sure Jennie might have been ignorant of the etymological source of the word, but ignorance is never an excuse, particularly for global brands
