When I saw the news with her I assumed it would be better than small company idol life tbh. But my frame of reference was mostly US women on onlyfans which can be quite easy and even enjoyable for some. I had both male and female friends who thought abit of only fans or stripping won't be a big deal and it's easy way to earn some side cash.

Both eneded up emotionally damaged.

People treated them like they own them bc they throw 5 dollars at them. The way people treat adult workers is really nasty. They lost their self confidence and respect so fast.

1. Some Asian families usually work as an unit, so any debt is the families debt, is not legal, is cultural, if children do not help their parents they can be looked down on by society. Helping your parents (at least claiming you are) will put you in a good light with Korean society.

2. Maybe the debt was partially to support her idol career, her group did not make much money and she left the group before their 7 year contract expired, so there was probably some stuff behind the scenes that we do not know about and companies can by shady, just walking away with out the company suing you does not usually happen.

3. Obviously working minimum wage jobs will not be as profitable as working in an Only fans style job, that is up to the individual to choose what they want to do. unless the debt is held by some loan sharks style mafia, she does not have to do that job.

they intentionally have debt sharks to disenfranchise people and make them lower class. Its how a capitalist society works, they need someone at the bottom in order for others to thrive. People are barely having any kids in SK because they don't want to financially struggle and live lower class so this was one of the solutions.

they want people to make a mistake financially. thats why they don't teach finances at secondary school. they want you to be ignorant and mess up so that you can be in debt too

To anyone reading this, You're better off being poor than taking out any kind of fishy loan. This is a cautionary tale!

There's some VERY dark things going on in her life.

I remember that video of her crying years ago when she was still in DIA saying she was ugly and a nobody. It was heartbreaking. I can only hope and wish the exposure will get her the support she needs and deserve.
