The French web hosting provider OVH, famous among other things for being the provider of sites like WikiLeaks and one of the most important in the world, has suffered a fire in its data center located in Strasbourg. Multiple OVH services are inoperative from Spain and the rest of the world due to the event.

This was announced by Octave Klaba, the founder of the platform via Twitter, explaining the damage to its infrastructure. As the portal collects The Register, the damage has affected 2 data centers, and although it has been on the verge of affecting a third, two have been saved.

OVH consumers will be forced to resort to the disaster recovery plan provided by the firm, with instructions on how to act in these cases to avoid major problems due to the inability of the service to function.

    OVH, at risk

The OVH founder himself has been explaining it on Twitter in a thread detailing all the facts. He explains that the SBG1 and SBG2 data centers are the most affected; the second has been destroyed while the former is seriously damaged. The SBG3 has been at risk and on the other hand the SBG4 is insured.

The problem is that all services and the entire platform have been deactivated. Fortunately, the platform employees appear to be safe. The fire, in fact, has already been put out although the firefighters have yet to clean and isolate all the buildings. So much so that not even Klaba has access to the buildings.

Klaba admits that although the fire is no longer active, the data centers will not be restarted for now, especially the SBG1 and SBG2, which have suffered the most damage in recent hours. This has seriously affected the websites hosted by OVH, which will have to conform to the disaster recovery plan and wait for the service to be restored. suffering a digital blackout along the way, something that could last hours or even days.
