I actually liked what IVE has done with I will survive.
And put a spin on it.
Rapping on a 45 year old song? Now that takes music knowledge.
RV did the same with Feel my rhythm, and it was well received.
Then again, the opposite can be true. Have a full blown EDM/Rock remix of an old K-pop song.
There are plenty trot songs from the 80's that have the same BPM as current songs.

Really want a GG to have a more experimental sound...like in the vein of Arca, Grimes, Crystal Castles, Nine Inch Nails, etc. aespa are close but their last album was pretty disappointing imo....but they seem like the only GG who can pull that off well
Also after NewJeans debut I really want a more R&B-oriented girl group. I've been dying to see a GG sample a Destiny's Child or TLC song

Crystal Castles could be pulled off by G-IDLE if they get messier production with more noise, but tbh its hard to replicate what Alice Glass does
Arca could be done with aespa if they fully committed to weirdness
I also think that NJ could go further into 90s RnB but I hope they keep the dreamy element because lowkey I think that's their secret weapon. Dreamy yearning songs like Hype Boy/Hurt >>>>

I Knew that that answer would come and I like DC, but they don't have enough versatility for me. They tend to stay in their small Pop-Gothic rock corner which is cool, but not very exciting.

Yep, its very common in 2nd gen because EDM, Trance, techno, etc was very popular in the 90s-20s but fallen out of style since.

Well like all things (the retro concept as of late) i'm sure it will come around again, all it takes is one big group to go HARD and the GP will get whiplash so bad all other groups for the following 8 months will follow suit lol
But maybe there is a group or a new one coming soon that will scratch that itch for you

Yep, just like how it just took one group to bring in the retro concept, and one group to bring in the mixed music concept, I can definitely see it happening.
