If they had no power at all they'd be promoting an album or out on tour right now. They must be able to protest in some ways, even if their fans are creepily unhappy about that.

KPop has ties with the government for its soft power usefulness. It's not just BTS. Look at how KPop groups had begun touring in the UAE after the UAE signed a deal giving South Korea hundreds of millions of dollars. Whoever the group is, they have to jump when they're told to jump. BTS maybe have a little more leeway than most by this point.

Artists have been used by the SK government for years. Its nothing new. BTS aren't the first and won't be the last to be used by the government for political gain/influence with the public.
