IS VARIETY WRONG ? BP PERFORMANCE AT THE VMA?

I think they're getting mixed up thinking the studio backing vocals were the actual live parts lol.

Blackpink obviously used the studio vocals as a backtrack but i could hear doubling, where the idols sing along with the backing vocals. You can clearly hear when they sing off pitch compared to the studio vocals.

they were singing over the track. You can notice they were singing live specially here

from the very beginning you can notice because Jennie spits the words while singing

they used a backtrack plus live vocals. it's nothing unheard of. they just want to drag them

Clearly Variety needs to check their ears

they were singing with a back track, but you can hear their voices over that. It wasn´t total lipsync. But you wanna find trash ...it just speak about you

Time and Billboard have a different opinion about the best and worst performances, though.

I think the issue was the backing track being loud but they were singing live in the verses over the back track. Imo they should have sang the verses without it and only included the backtrack for the chorus

Loud backtrack though a whole song is always criticised which is why others were named too. Hope yg just keeps it to the choruses if blackpink perform on an American award show again

Yeah, this was what I was referring to. Whoever wrote that article on Variety was confused about the vocals and probably rated it that way.

really don't care for the gun jumping in this thread by some blinks, OP doesn't have much of a history that I can remember of being shady to BP

but if others choose to be shady because of this thread well that's on them

I hope whoever write that at variety don't get exposed during these days, cause I am getting a big feeling that he is being biased because of fandom things

As far as I could tell, they mostly sang/rapped live over a backtrack with some prerecorded doubling. Which is almost certainly what virtually every act performing did.

So, it was a deliberate low blow from variety, I reckon, or at best a poor assumption.

I guess they are not used to loud backing tracks?

But seriously, this is the tip of the icebergs of what Blackpink will get as they grew bigger and surpass other western acts. Just be prepared Blinks. ARMY have been there and still fighting because western media especially don’t like that acts that they can’t control are taking over their space. It’s not easy breaking glass ceilings..

being a critic has to be the easiest job in the world
