Aespa, New Jeans and Blackpink were the most privileged groups at debut

  • Korean GP still ate up YG groups back in 2016 and BP were also the first girlgroup in 7 years so people were tuning in. They were guaranteed good Korean charting from the start.

Aespa were SM's first girlgroup in 6 years, and they inherited a massive fandom of company stans in China. Like BP, regular kpop stans tuned into their comeback because we were all curious what SM would come up with after RV.

NJ also inherited company stans, those 500k pre orders do not lie, and now it looks like HYBE has made them their next group to push internationally with the TTH play listing.

Anyway, Big 4 privilege >>> any other privilege, including produce groups. Starship needs to MOVE on Ive, they're way too successful for them to not be even be posting about sales records or improving their play listing

  • It’s insane that new jeans were able to do 3 hit songs with no photo teasers. That is something new to me.

  • hmm, who cares? They worked hard to debut in those companies.

  • It's a fact that they had privilege, only company stans deny or try to make their privilege look like it wasn't a privilege with "but this", "but that". That's why I'm rooting for IVE, it's just refreshing to see a girl group stand out with only their music and members to rely on. They are amazing.

Not to say that the other ggs aren't, with or without privilege they have their appeal, but in my honest opinion IVE is special.

  • and all the other big 3 groups??

  • Ive belongs to literally the biggest company in the Korean music industry, Kakao.

Do actual nugu groups get to live in "dorms" like this?

This, they also had the money to release 4 damn mv for one mediocre song.

    Also don't forget their

and people said "NJ COMES FROM NOTHING"
    what a clown :pepe-shrug:

  • I envy aespa if I were a girl group. SM stans eat up anything SM releases. Also, sm stans support and defend sm groups and fandoms.

  • Aespa and newjeans are way more privileged than BP. They got to debut in a time where kpop it's at its absolute peak internationally

Newjeans in particular has the biggest korean agency behind them it ain't even close. They are even getting put on the biggest spotify playlist because of hybe

  • Must be good to have privileges.

Huh?! When Ive is under Kakao , one of the nicest entertainment company in SK?!

  • in this age you need privilege to thrive

Its no loneger empty house, empty comapnies etc.

If you do not have privilege you either tank or get forgotten and disband in the end.

Why are we treating privilege like a bad thing here? Should companies that hit big with a group just stop debuting groups? Should they not work hard to promote these said groups after years of training them?

    Yall are crazy tbh

  • most logical comment but some people will only see their favs as less privileged when they're stanning big 4 , cj/produced/kakao groups in the first place.

if you don't have privilege, it's hard for you to compete for the top places in this over-saturated industry.

Nah bp is the most privileged group in Kpop no matter what you deluded blinks think

  • Nah bp is the most privileged group in Kpop no matter what you deluded blinks think

Sure jan lol!! We will see how your favs do when they get hiatus since debut

  • You forgot NMIXX, girlies sold 500k without anyone knowing them

  • It's a fact that they had privilege, only company stans deny or try to make their privilege look like it wasn't a privilege with "but this", "but that". IVE has Wonyong privilege. If you were to take Jennie out of BP and put her in a group of rookies and their songs weren’t total garbage, that group would still be popular. SK loves to stan the familiar.

  • Nah bp is the most privileged group in Kpop no matter what you deluded blinks think

Explain how. Newjean, aespa and most other ggs are doing the numbers they are doing thanks to bp for growing the gg and kpop market since their debut.

I and many others got into kpop for them and we would never know about the existence of those groups otherwise

  • NMIXX sold 500k with a blind package, people didn't even know them

  • They’re all diamond spoons fed, come on. Princesses that don’t need to hustle for them success, I think as stans most are already aware.

  • Let’s pretend they didn’t inherit izone fans and the Mnet programme that boosted them

  • Not yall acting like all the members of these groups mentioned didn't work hard to debut in those companies. If you work hard to get where you are, you ain't privileged

  • not the blinks in this thread rewriting history and claiming bp weren’t privileged from debut omg…….. y’all reaching new heights in delusion i swear. one can tell many of y’all are new kpop stans weren’t here around 3rd gen and didn’t witness the hype that bp’s debut got and the yt records it broke and the paks on korean charts. no group that doesn’t have privilege will be able to get that. y’all exposing how clueless you are but still like to talk shit as if you know what you’re talking about lmao

  • Not yall acting like all the members of these groups mentioned didn't work hard to debut in those companies. If you work hard to get where you are, you ain't privileged

your logic is entirely nonsense. those trainees worked hard to get into these big companies so that they could benefit from the privilege they’re going to get. they know the perks of debuting from these companies and that’s why they try hard, otherwise they could’ve joined any nugu company with less competition among trainees. they didn’t do that, because of the privilege from big 4 they want to have. the privilege is still there lmao “oh but they work hard so it’s not privilege” i swear y’all so out of touch with reality

  • IVE has Wonyong privilege. If you were to take Jennie out of BP and put her in a group of rookies and their songs weren’t total garbage, that group would still be popular. SK loves to stan the familiar.

No your comparison doesnt make sense because Jennie became popular in BP and Wonyoung literally doubled her popularity in IVE, I'm not making up she had 2 million followers before IVE in all these years with Izone and after IVE she gained more 2 million followers in just a couple of months.

I dont know why people insist with this narrative when Miss A with Suzy and Astro with Eunwoo exist to prove everyone the contrary.

  • Unfair to just single out the girl groups. Treasure? TXT? Enhypen? Stray Kids?

It's not the girl's fault that people are more receptive to girl group music right now.

Boy groups get the inbuilt privilege of a hardcore estrogen driven fanbase.

Lovestruck straight/bi/pan girl fans go harder for their boy faves than any other demographic.

  • I just realzie people do not mention Nmixx because they flop, so the argument of privilege falls out once a group flop? why the sudden change?

  • I just realzie people do not mention Nmixx because they flop, so the argument of privilege falls out once a group flop? why the sudden change?

Nmixx literally sold 50k before the name of the group was even released. They eventually sold 500k despite o.o being considered the worst debut song ever. They ARE part of the argument, people still have hope that they can compete against other rookies because they come from JYP, that should tell you enough.
