Okay nobody talking about how awkward its going to be for BP to perform Pink Venom at the VMA?

    to koreans the rap in Pink Venom must have sounded cool but for Americans I feel like it's just going to feel embarrassingly inauthentic because they obviously tried to copy some old school styles that have nothing to do with their culture. It's like Female Jay Parks. I still can't believe Blackpink are finally making their U.S debut and Teddy really gave them a song like Pink Venom.....

    sorry what? Korean hip-hop & rap scene is very developed and always gets attention in Korea, just like in USA, so this song is a good choice.

    They're a girl group. Nobody is expecting much from their rap, kpop or otherwise.

    They get money, recognition, new fans, connections, a new experience that few people can have.

    Trust they are winning in every aspect :dancer:

    I cringed when I heard the line "Kick in the door wavin the coco" which was a copy of a Notorious B.I.G. diss rap where he says "Kick in the door wavin the .44". A line from a rap that was a part of a feud that included the murder of two of the GOAT black rappers in 2Pac and Biggie.

    this exactly. blackpink’s whole image is superficial and shallow, they don’t have any originality and are obsessed with referencing the west without any knowledge or tact regarding the subject they’re copying. the cringe product they put out is a reflection of that. not a good look at all. but then again that’s yg’s whole brand and their fans eat it up like it’s their last meal so it’s not going to change. it’s not a coincidence that many internet influencers are similarly phony and tacky and inauthentic but they’re still very famous and have a huge following. most of the average person are just super dumb and easily impressionable

    Can u relax. Like only 1 person was talking about wanting BP to be humiliated. It's fine if you don't agree but I'm not trying to hate on them. I'm just genuinely dissapointed in the song and do find it awkward af for them to perform because I was looking forward to them performing at the VMAs but now I just don't see how a song like Pink Venom is going to impress anyone there and feels like it will just make Kpop seem unserious and check all the boxes of the stereotype that Westerners had for the genre.

    And you want them perform what song again? All KPOP songs sound like a thrash to western audience if we go with your logic.
