TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japanese triathlete Tsudoi Miyazaki died Wednesday after being hit by an oncoming vehicle during her bike practice in Orleans in France, the Japan Triathlon Union said.
The 25-year-old Toyama Prefecture native won the under-23 national championship in 2019 and was ranked 142nd in the latest world rankings.
Miyazaki, who began triathlon at university and was aiming for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics, came in 50th during the World Cup event in Pontevedra, Spain, on Sunday.
