i feel bad for the artists signed to them. they just got screwed out of a lot of revenue and exposure

With removing their whole catalogue, they're planning something. It might even just be a negotiation tactic with Spotify (losing all those listening numbers, tho, and forcing people to find your artists again). But you don't pull all your music like that without some sort of plan in the works to promote your work.

Nope, they are just securing their dominance in korea with this (even though I don't think they needed to do it looking at how spotify is currently doing). They wouldnt gain much by trying to go international, would be a big risk

Who would buy it tho, that's a super risky move. They probably have some plan but I don't think an international Melon app would be necessary.
