I. Introduction:

Ishihara Takamasa (石原崇雅), better known by the stage name MIYAVI, is a Japanese guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer, actor and philanthropist. He is known for his finger-slapping style of playing a guitar.

He is a former member of the visual kei rock band Dué le quartz.

In 2002, he started his career as a solo artist. In 2007, he became a member of the rock supergroup S.K.I.N. and in 2009, he founded his own company, J-glam.

In 2022, he became a member of the rock supergroup THE LAST ROCKSTARS.

Facts:

– He was born in Nishikujō district, Osaka, Japan.
– His father is Korean-Japanese (now a naturalized Japanese citizen), while his mother is Japanese.
– In 1999, when he was 17, Miyavi debuted as a guitarist in the visual kei rock band Dué le quartz.
– On October 31 2002, after Dué le quartz disbanded, he debuted as a soloist, with the studio album “Gagaku“.
– On June 29, 2007 he debuted as a guitarist of the band S.K.I.N.
– He is part of LDH Japan.
– The name of his fandom is MYV CREW.

– His newly released album, Imaginary, is a call for people to take action with issues like climate change, gender equality, and the refugee crisis.
– MIYAVI is also an actor and has stared in blockbuster films such as “Kong: Skull Island”, “Maleficent 2”, and the Angelina Jolie–directed film “Unbroken”.
– MIYAVI is the current face of Gucci in Japan, but his own style is pretty accessible.

On March 14, 2009, Miyavi married Japanese-American singer Melody.
– The couple has 3 children: Lovelie Miyavi (born in 2009, in Japan), Jewelie Aoi (born in 2010, in Japan), and Skyler Kakeru (born in 2021, in the United States).
