Mama - Mama


  • I. Introduction

    "Mama" is the first song and the title track on EXO's debut EP, Mama. The album was released on April 9, 2012.


    At the time, EXO was divided into two sub-units, EXO-K, who recorded and performed in Korean, and EXO-M who recorded and performed in Mandarin.


    Each EXO studio album and EP had two versions featuring the units until For Life, then continued to have two versions of their albums in the different languages until 2017's Universe.


    "Mama" was written by legendary SM producer and songwriter Yoo Young-jin, who also wrote two other songs on the EP, "What Is Love" and "History."


    The song was nominated for a Bonsang at the Golden Disk Awards in 2013.


    The music video introduces EXO's lore, including their superpowers.
